Tokyo Conference Center Shinagawa |
THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS, September 2003Benchmark Hospitality has announced
through its partner company, Benchmark Japan, the opening of the Tokyo
Conference Center Shinagawa. The day meetings center, located in
the southern section of the city, is the second such facility in Tokyo.
Burt Cabañas, chairman and chief executive officer of Benchmark
Hospitality, made the announcement.
We are especially pleased that the Tokyo Conference Center Shinagawa is now open for business, stated Mr. Cabañas. We have a long-term, productive relationship with our Japanese partners who recognize that the Tokyo market is poised for continuous growth. This second Tokyo Conference Center will be as successful as the first one, Tokyo Conference Center Iidabashi, which opened two years ago. Mr. Cabañas continued, The Tokyo market is a key link to the potential development of similar facilities in other major cities in Japan. Mr. Hiromi Takagi, Managing Partner of Benchmark Japan, indicated, We see the demand for conference meetings growing significantly in Japan, along with the need for exceptional conference facilities. Benchmark Japan has demonstrated great success within the Tokyo market, reflected by our second center. Tokyo Conference Center Shinagawa has been purpose-designed for effective meetings. The new facility offers 18,632 square feet of meeting space with ten state-of-the-art conference rooms, including a boardroom, eight breakout rooms and a large hall accommodating up to 500 guests; ergonomic chairs; continuous refreshment breaks; as well as Benchmarks signature conference concierge and audiovisual services. The center is located adjacent to Shinagawa Station, providing easy access to and from Tokyos world-renowned subway and JR train systems. Benchmark Blends Conference Dining Concept into new Tokyo Center The 250-seat restaurant for the Tokyo Conference Center Shinagawa has been customized for conference dining, in addition to hosting cocktail receptions and special events. Benchmark temporarily located two culinary staff members from Chaminade Executive Conference Center of Santa Cruz, California -- including Ms. Beverlie Terra, executive chef, and Mr. Nick Church, executive sous chef -- under the direction of Mr. Bob Zappatelli, Benchmark Hospitalitys director of food and beverage, to blend in food and beverage concepts and support the Shinagawa culinary staff. The first Tokyo Conference Center innovatively established its own food and beverage concept to meet the market needs at the time, stated Bob Zappatelli. However, for Shinagawa, the partners of Benchmark Japan decided that blending in two cultural approaches would add a variety of food and menu concepts not experienced before. Cross-cultural training and international relationship building within the Benchmark organization created a benefit for everyone, including our customers. Benchmark Hospitality, an independent hospitality management company
