Santana Row in San Jose, California |
SAN JOSE, CALIF. July 8, 2003 - Santana Row,
the neighborhood that blends shopping, dining and living space is the setting
for Silicon Valleys newest, most distinctive luxury hotel. Valencia Group
of Houston, Texas, launched Hotel Valencia Santana Row in San Jose, California,
in June 2003. The 213-room contemporary small luxury hotel is the
centerpiece of Santana Row, San Joses new urban district, which opened
November 2002.
Combining luxury and high technology capabilities with a hip and classic design theme, Hotel Valencia Santana Row caters to the business traveler and leisure visitor alike. From the expansive central courtyard with a water feature to the dramatic three-story vaulted stone entry, Hotel Valencia provides guests with a four-star experience, featuring impeccable architectural craftsmanship, intimate meeting facilities, luxurious amenities, access to cutting-edge technology and unparalleled personal service. Santana Row features luxury and lifestyle shopping, a plethora of dining options, and residential units in a combination of stylish urban lofts, contemporary townhomes and stately executive villas in a 42-acre mixed-use development. Santana Rows developer, Federal Realty Investment Trust, studied the great streets of the world to create a community that sets a new standard for urban living and shopping. HIP YET CLASSIC DESIGN Santana Row is an ideal setting for Hotel Valencia with the romantic blend of sights, sounds and textures. The hotels architecture features the rich, deep color finishes of an old world palazzo, set against a distinct classic backdrop. The design blends contemporary themes, such as polished concrete walls, with traditional touches, such as step-out balconies and arched ceilings reminiscent of a 15th century monastery. Highly acclaimed Los Angeles designer Dodd Mitchell of dMd Associates created remarkable and sophisticated interiors that incorporate elements of nature for a one-of-a-kind, yet timeless look. The lobby features non-traditional raked plaster walls and a unique intimate conversation cocoon. Each of the guestrooms features a posh, custom-made Hotel Valencia
Bed, wrapped in luxurious Poggesi Italian Home Style® Egyptian cotton
bed linens, leather bolster pillow, down-filled leather club chair and
ottoman, 27 color TVs and Tivoli table radios. The décor
of the guestrooms includes onyx and nickel accents, a barrel-vaulted entryway,
ebony-stained plantation shutters, a faux mink throw and a coconut tree
guest lamp. The focal point is the 18-foot long, multi-level credenza with
ample workspace and vanity area along with a woven leather desk chair.
Hotel Valencia has 16 suites including nine junior studio suites with views of the Santa Cruz Mountains and six one-bedroom executive suites with Santana Row street scene views. The spacious, luxurious Presidential Suite on the top floor of the hotel has a view of the downtown skyline with a San Jose foothills backdrop. On the fifth floor, overlooking the center courtyard and the Santana Row street scene is the year-round swimming pool and hot tub. Adjacent to the pool are the fitness center and Ayoma LifeSpa, featuring customized, holistic Ayurvedic-inspired spa treatments for natural wellness. The hotel provides twice-daily housekeeping service, a full-service multilingual concierge staff, laundry and valet services, valet parking and complimentary self-parking. TECHNOLOGY ENHANCES GUEST EXPERIENCE Befitting its Silicon Valley location, Hotel Valencia Santana Row uses the latest in technology to enhance the guest experience, appealing to both the business and tech-savvy traveler. HP, a leader in technology services, and Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, worked closely with Valencia Group during the hotel design process. The result is a breadth of high-speed wired and wireless network applications, IP telephony (Internet Protocol), digital video-on-demand, printing and other technology features, making Hotel Valencia Santana Row the most advanced luxury property in the region, arguably the country. Guests will experience the technological advantages immediately upon arrival. At Hotel Valencia Santana Row, the doorman greets you, unloads your bags, swipes your credit card and checks you in curbside, "cutting" your key on the spot through a wireless remote check-in system. Guests are on their way, with no waits, delays or lengthy front desk lines. Hotel Valencia allows guests to access the Internet through a variety of devices, such as laptops, PDAs, television and IP phones. From anywhere in the hotel, guests have secure wireless Internet access, and the ability to connect to the Santana Row community portal to find events and specials at neighborhood shops, restaurants and entertainment venues. The hotel's meeting rooms are fully equipped with Cisco IP telephones, and wireless broadband Internet access. High-speed Internet access and printing services are available in every guest room, as well as digital video-on-demand from NXTV, Inc. Through NXTVs interactive programming guide, guests can view the latest movies, play video games, access email, the Internet and hotel services, all through the television. IP phones are a standard feature in each guest room. These phones are feature-rich with large, pixel-based LCD screens that display directories such as room service ordering and housekeeping requests. By using the touch features of the IP phone, guests never have to be put on hold again. The IP Phones also enable Internet connectivity to check flight schedules, weather, stocks and other information on demand. CHEF MOHR CREATES CULINARY EXPERIENCE Mercer Mohr, a San Francisco Chef of the Year honoree, has created a vision for culinary excellence that will rival the most progressive menus in the country. Mohr brings new American Spanish cuisine to Silicon Valley at the hotels Citrus restaurant. The menu includes cocido madrilène, or clay-pot specialties, signature seafood dishes as well as rare delicacies such as Kobe Beef Yamato sirloin steaks, specially-raised Japanese beef. Citrus offers a full selection of tapas and two varieties of freshly made sangria. Citrus opens into the hotels central courtyard, as does the where you want to be Vbar, which continues the new American Spanish theme with a ceviche bar, the first of its kind on the West Coast. The ceviche bar features a variety of fresh seafood marinated in different citrus juices and other flavorful ingredients, such as hot peppers, garlic and onion, and served with a selection of crackers and chips. Guests can enjoy the Vbars balcony view overlooking the Santana Row street scene from 5 p.m. until late. The culinary adventure continues on the hotels seventh floor, where the Cielo wine terrace combines incredible Santa Cruz Mountain views with sophisticated tastes. Cielo features a full and varied wine list, with a selection of caviars and cheeses. Cielo is also open from 5 p.m. to late. A special Ayurveda-inspired spa menu will be available on request, with dishes prepared by Chef Mohr in collaboration with Ayoma LifeSpa.
