Peter Koehler has been appointed General Manager at Kimpton's Hotel
Palomar, home of San Francisco¹s Fifth Floor. He was previously the
General Manager / Equity Partner at the Hotel Villa Del Sol in Zihuatanejo.
Prior to that, Koehler worked for Mandarin-Oriental for almost three years.
Robert Thrailkill is the General Manager of the soon-to-open (January
2004) Hotel Conrad Miami. A 1982 graduate of the Conrad Hilton School of
Administration, he has been with the company for 18 years. Since 1998 he
was the General Manager of the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center.
Yves Giacometti will succeed Olivier Masson as General Manager of the
Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires, with oversight on the Four Seasons Resort
Carmelo. Since April of 2002, Giacometti has been at the Four Seasons George
V in Paris as Hotel Manager.
Susan Kelly has been named Chief Operating Officer and General Manager
of Poets Cove Seaside Resort in South Pender Island B.C. Most recently,
she held various positions at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, such as
Marketing Consultant, Director of Sales and Marketing and Executive Manager.
Prior to that, she worked for Shutters on the Beach and Casa Del Mar in
Santa Monica as Director of Marketing.
At Columbia Hospitality in Seattle, Bret Matteson was promoted to Chief
Operating Officer. He was previously the Company Vice President of Operations.
Matteson also was the opening General Manager of the Elliott, now the Grand
Hyatt Seattle. Lenny Zilz has been hired as Vice President and will serve
as the General Manager for the Washington Mutual Leadership Center at Cedarbrook.
Zilz was most recently with John Daly International, a world-renowned event
planning company. Previously, Zilz spent nearly 20 years with the Ritz-Carlton
Hotel Company.
Scott Taber has been promoted to General Manager of the soon-to-open
Four Seasons Resort Whistler. Most recently, he was the Hotel Manager at
the Four Seasons Singapore.
General Manager Dennis Clarke has transferred from Fairmont's Copley
Plaza to the company¹s newest acquisition, the former Four Seasons
Olympic Seattle. Prior to joining Fairmont in 1994, Clarke spent eleven
years with Ritz-Carlton.
Peter Roth has been appointed Hotel Manager at the Four Seasons Mexico
City. He will be replacing Kurt Englund who has transferred to the planned
Four Seasons Costa Rica. Roth comes from the Four Seasons Carmelo, where
he served as Resort Manager.
Tim Steckbeck has been named Director of Operations at the Phoenician.
A long-time Westin/Starwood employee, he was the General Manager of the
Westin Kuala Lumpur until July 2003. At the Phoenician, he takes over from
Bunty Ahamed, who became the General Manager of sister property, the Sheraton
Wildhorse Resort and Spa.
John Cardona has left Hong Kong and the Peninsula Hotel Group after
two years as Manager, Sales & Reservations to become the Vice President,
Sales & Marketing for the Garrett Hotel Group, owners of The Point,
Lake Placid Lodge and The Wilcox, three Relais & Chateaux, as well
as the Inn of Five Graces.
Speaking of The Wilcox, opening General Manager Libby Cook has left
the company. Her successor is John Graham. Graham, like Cook, is a former
Ritz-Carlton employee. Yet another former Ritz-Carlton employee, chef-restaurateur
Gunther Seeger has taken over the restaurant at the Wilcox, while keeping
his award-winning namesake restaurant in Atlanta.
At InterContinental, Rick Kowaleski has been named Senior Vice President
Finance, Americas. Previously, he held the position of Vice President and
Controller for InterContinental Hotels Group. Prior to joining InterContinental
in 1985, Kowaleski served as Regional Controller for Canteen Corporation.
Trudy Rautio, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer
of Carlson Hotels Worldwide, has been promoted to the position of President
of the Americas division. She has been a member of the senior management
team at Carlson since joining the company in 1997.
David Rothwell has been appointed Resident Manager of the soon-to-open
Mandarin-Oriental Washington DC by General Manager Darrell Sheaffer. Rothwell
comes from the Ritz-Carlton Tyson¹s Corner where he held the position
of Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food and Beverage.
Denise Dugin is joining the Ritz-Carlton Tyson's Corner as Director
of Sales and Marketing. Dugin moves a few miles from her previous position
at the Washington DC Renaissance Hotel. At Tyson¹s Corner, she will
be replacing Jacqueline Edwards.
Jean-Louis Narboni joins the Ritz-Carlton Montreal as Director of Sales
and Marketing, coming from the Wyndham Montreal where he held the same
position.
Also at the Mandarin-Oriental Washington DC, Mark Dressel has been appointed
Director of Finance. He had been the Controller at the Ritz-Carlton Dearborn
for ten years prior to transferring to the Washington DC area in a regional
role.
Geraldine Korss joined the Regent Beverly Wilshire as Director of Sales.
She comes home to Four Seasons where she started in 1987 at the Clift,
prior to transferring to the Four Seasons Chicago. Korss left the company
in 1993 to return to the Clift as Director of Sales and Marketing. Most
recently, she was the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Pan Pacific
San Francisco.
Quinn and Karen Hatfield have been appointed as co-chefs of Pascal Rigo's
upcoming Mosaic at the Adagio, Chip Conley¹s newest Joie de Vivre
hotel in San Francisco. The Hatfields come from Santa Monica's Casa Del
Mar and Shutters on the Beach. Quinn served as Chef de Cuisine at Casa
del Mar¹s Oceanfront Restaurant, while Karen served as Pastry Chef
for both Casa Del Mar and its sister property Shutters on the Beach.
Perry Grice has been appointed Director of Sales at Callaway Resort.
He comes to Callaway from the Georgia State Park Lodges where he served
as the Regional Director of Sales. Most recently, he was the Director of
Sales for the State Park Lodge Retreat at Lake Blackshear in Cordele, Georgia.
At Bacara Resort & Spa, Executive Spa Director Zahira Coll has resigned
to take the helm at the consulting firm she founded in 1994. Coll worked
for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company for five years in the capacity of Director
of Human Resources for the Ritz-Carlton San Juan Hotel, Spa & Casino
and Spa Director for the Ritz-Carlton Huntington.
James Pedro has been promoted to the position of Executive Chef at the
Fairmont San Francisco. He takes over from Bernard Chirent, who has left
the company. Pedro joined the hotel as Executive Banquet Chef in October
of 1998 from the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage.
At Santa Monica's Ambrose, Daniel Howery has been named General Manager.
Prior to joining the Ambrose, he was the Senior Vice President of Luxe
Worldwide Hotels.
James Peebles will be the opening General Manager of the Cipriani Punta
del Este. A twenty-year Marriott veteran, Peebles worked for the company
in the United States, the Caribbean, Asia, Mexico and South America. Most
recently, he was the opening General Manager of the Marriott Rio de Janeiro.
There is a new Vice President of Restaurant Operations at the Kimpton
Group, The position had been vacant since Niki Leondakis had moved
up to Executive Vice President of the group. The new man is Kelly Jones,
who comes from Jeffrey Chodorow's China Grill organization. Jones was the
in charge of China Grill¹s Las Vegas operations, the group¹s
most lucrative and fastest growing.
Darren Smith has been named Managing Director of Daufuskie Island Resort
& Spa. Before joining Daufuskie Island Resort & Spa, Smith served
with Noble House Hotels & Resorts for nine years, most recently as
General Manager for the 210-room Sunburst Resort in Scottsdale. Prior to
that, he was the General Manager for the Jupiter Beach Resort.
At the Carneros Inn in Napa Valley, Jon Makhmaltchi has been appointed
Director of Sales. He spent three years with the Park Hyatt San Francisco
before joining the Huntington Hotel and Nob Hill Spa in 1999 as Director
of Sales and Marketing. Jeannie Jarnot, formerly Spa Director for the Sports
Club/LA at the Four Seasons San Francisco, has been appointed Spa Director.
She began her career with the New York Palace in 1996. Teri Serrano has
been appointed Director of Human Resources. Most recently, she was the
Director of Human Resources at the Surf & Sand in Laguna Beach.
Milham Wakin is Carneros Inn's Controller and Director of Information
and Technology. Most recently, he was in a similar position at the Pacific
& Caribbean Hotel Group in San Francisco. Wayne Weaver has been named
Director of Engineering whose career included serving as Director of Facilities
during the opening of Harrah's Marina Hotel Casino and the post opening
of Trump's Castle Hotel Casino in Atlantic City.
Christian Delouvrier, formerly the Executive Chef of the much-lamented
Four-Star Lespinasse at the St. Regis New York, has opened the 130-seat
Terre in Manhattan's Lower West Side. On his team are Shane McBride, formerly
his Sous Chef at Lespinasse, Pastry Chef Jean-Francois Bonnet, formerly
from Atelier at the Ritz-Carlton Central Park South and Sommelier Hervé
Pennequin, formerly of L¹Orangerie in Los Angeles and the Ritz-Carlton
Laguna Niguel.
Rick Zeolla has been appointed General Manager of the Aruba Marriott
Resort & Stellaris Casino. Most recently, he was General Manager of
the Bucharest Marriott.
Also at the Aruba Marriott, Pasquale Strocchia has been appointed Director
of Sales and Marketing. Strocchia previously was Market Director of Group
and Travel Industry Sales for Marriott International Offshore Resorts.
George Taulé has been appointed Financial Controller at Miami¹s
Lido Shores Hotel, soon to be renamed the Standard Miami (part of HotelsAB).
Taulé hails from Miami¹s Royal Palm Crowne Plaza Resort and
its sister property the Inter-Continental Miami West
Gerald Feurer has been appointed Director of Food and Beverage at the
New York Palace. Most recently he was the Bar and Restaurant Manager at
Fifty Seven Fifty Seven at the Four Seasons New York. Prior to that, Feurer,
a Lausanne grad, was the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage at the
Peninsula New York.
Joel Wilkinson is the new Executive Chef at Rosewood's Jumby Bay in
Antigua, replacing Alex Chen, who is now the Executive Chef at Rosewood's
Hotel Crescent Court in Dallas. Wilkinson comes from the American Club,
Singapore.
Sven Norrenberg is the Manager of the landmark Top of the Mark at the
Mark-Hopkins InterContinental. Prior to that, he was the opening Restaurant
Manager at Whist at the Viceroy in Santa Monica for the Kor Group. Norrenberg
also served as Beverage Manager at the Beverly HiIls Hotel.
At the Four Seasons Chicago, John Speers is the new Director of Food
and Beverage. He comes from the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach where he was the
Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food and Beverage.
Jean-Guillaume Coudon is the new Financial Controller at Cotton House.
He recently was with InterContinental in Paris, and also worked for the
Hyatt Regency Charles de Gaulle. He is a graduate of the Glion Hotel School
in Switzerland.
At Earl Holding's Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City, the new General
Manager is Bruce Fery. A former Red Lion and Hilton man, he takes over
from Steve Holding, who moves up to the corporate office.
Jason Dotson is the new Director of Housekeeping at the Regent Beverly
Wilshire. Previously, he was at Shutters on the Beach where he held the
position of Assistant Director of Rooms. His previous experience includes
employment with the Grafton on Sunset.
Michael Casola has left the position of General Manager at the Inn at
Morro Bay to take the helm of its sister property, the Cliffs in Shell
Beach, in the same capacity. His Successor at Morro Bay is Shannon Johnson
who used to be the property¹s Front Office Manager.
Fandango Resorts has named Thomas Scoville Vice President and General
Manager of the Sugarbush Inn and Conference Center. Scoville joined the
Sugarbush Inn from Park City-based Premier Resorts, where he was Director
of Performance Systems.
Director of Finance Moustapha Guimei will be transferring from the Four
Seasons Atlanta to the soon-to-open (February 2004) Four Seasons Provence
at Terre Blanche in the same capacity.
John Wilderman has been appointed Managing Director at the Resort at
Seabrook Island. Previously, he served as a Regional Vice President of
Operations for Benchmark Hospitality. Prior to joining Benchmark Hospitality,
Wilderman was the Vice President and Managing Director of Doral Arrowwood
in Rye Brook, New York.
At the soon-to-open (October 2003) Carneros Inn in Napa Valley, Philip
Wang has been hired as Executive Chef. He was most recently the Executive
Chef at Truc in Boston. Wang also worked at the Ritz-Carlton Boston, Charlie
Trotter, Restaurant Daniel, Jardinière and Rubicon.
Mo Ihsan has been appointed Director of Convention Services at the Omni
Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta. Prior to joining Omni, he was involved
in several hotel openings including that of the Conrad International Cairo.
Brandy Bechthold is joining the Omni Hotel at CNN Center as Director
of Catering. Prior to arriving in Atlanta, Bechthold served as the Director
of Catering at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel since the hotel's opening in
2000.
At the soon-to-open (October) Four Seasons Miami, Cynthia O¹Brien
has been appointed Sales Manager, she previously was a Sales Manager at
the former Four Seasons Seattle. Carolina Calderon has also been appointed
Sales Manager. She joins Four Seasons from Island Outpost where she held
positions in Reservations, Front Office and Sales.
Melissa Buffington has been appointed Senior Vice President of Human
Resources and Communications for Gaylord Entertainment. Prior to joining
the company, Buffington was Senior Vice President of Human Resources and
Strategic Planning for Dollar General Corporation and First American Corporation.
Eric Klein is the new Executive Chef at Maple Drive of Beverly Hills.
The gifted 30-year-old Alsatian took the plunge after seven years at Wolfgang
Puck¹s Spago Beverly Hills, where he was a Sous Chef.
Carl Meyer has been appointed Director of Operations at the Statler
Hotel at Cornell University. His most recent position was that of Director
of Rooms at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa, which is currently partially closed
while undergoing ground up renovations and expansion. Meyer also worked
for Pebble Beach Resorts.
Didrik Wallis has been appointed Director of Finance at the Four Seasons
Atlanta. He joined Four Seasons at the Clift in San Francisco in 1980 then
moved to Seattle and the former Four Seasons Olympic in 1982.
At the Four Seasons Jackson Hole, Robert Nolan has been named Residence
Club Director. Since December 2002, Nolan has served as the Assistant Director
of Rooms at the Four Seasons Scottsdale.
Michael Kovensky has been appointed Area Director of Sales for three
Wyndham properties in Central Florida. He will also serve as Director of
Sales and Marketing for the 1,012-room Wyndham Palace Resort Spa in the
Walt Disney World® Resort. Kovensky joins Wyndham from the Hilton at
Walt Disney World Resort, where he was the Director of Marketing.
Also at the Four Seasons Jackson Hole, Ken Gladysz has been appointed
Executive Chef. He most recently has been the Executive Sous Chef at the
Four Seasons Riyadh.
Henry Basile has been appointed Director of Food and Beverage at the
Hotel Bel-Air. Basile previously served at the hotel as Banquet Manager
for several years.
Jean-Francois Suteau has been named Executive Pastry Chef of the Adolphus
in Dallas. He joins the hotel from Joel¹s in Atlanta and the dining
room at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead. In both places he reported to Joel Antunes.
Andrew Economon has been named Director of Food and Beverage at the
Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino. Until recently, he was the Director of
Food and Beverage at the Westin Riverwalk San Antonio.
Ludovic Lainé heads the newly-opened New York office of Yesawich,
Pepperdine, Brown & Russell.
Diane Greenberg-Dilena, who has been the Director of Catering at Shutters
on the Beach and Casa Del Mar for the past four years, is joining the St.
Regis Los Angeles in the same capacity. Greenberg also was the Director
of Catering at the Beverly Hills Hotel, the Hotel Bel-Air and the Loews
Santa Monica Beach Hotel.
Craig Smith has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing at the
Radisson Plaza Resort in Myrtle Beach. He comes from Paradise Point Resort
and Spa in San Diego where he held a similar position.
Roland Rutjens is the new General Manager at Planet Hollywood New York.
He replaces Darryl Alexander who left the company. Until May 2003, Rutjens
was the General Manager of The World for the World Wrestling Federation.
He also was the General Manager for the House of Blues in Anaheim.
Gladys Mouton di Stefano is the new Director of Catering at New York¹s
chic Sherry-Netherlands. Until recently, she held the same position at
the Carlyle, following a three-year stint as Director of Catering at the
Mark.
Benchmark Hospitality has appointed Michael Harris as Director of Human
Resources for the Georgian Terrace Hotel.in Atlanta. He was previously
Regional Human Resources Manager based in Atlanta for Kindercare Learning
Center. Prior to that, he worked for Marriott Corporation, as Director
of Human Resources in Dayton, Ohio, Dallas and in Atlanta.
The Resort at Seabrook Island has named Mark Grosh as its new Director
of Sales and Marketing. Prior to joining Seabroook Island, Grosh worked
for Benchmark Hospitality as the General Manager of the CIBC Leadership
Centre outside Toronto, Canada.
Renée Tao has been promoted to Global Account Manager for the
West Coast region with Fairmont Hotels in Los Angeles. She was previously
a Sales Manager at the Fairmont Miramar in Santa Monica.
Christian Folse has been appointed Front Office Manager at the Four
Seasons Scottsdale. He was previously at the former Four Seasons Olympic
in Seattle.
Pradeep Raman is the Manager of the Lobby Restaurant & Lounge at
the Peninsula Chicago. He previously held several foods and beverage management
positions with Ritz-Carlton in New York, Istanbul and St Louis.
Derek Poirer has transferred as Pastry Chef to the Four Seasons Newport
Beach from the Four Seasons Houston. |
