James Hughes, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Santiago, brings to his new position more than 20 years of experience as a hotelier. The son of an Uruguayan diplomat, Hughes first lived in Chile at the age of 15 and has served with several hotels in Latin America. "I believe the service level Ritz-Carlton brings to Santiago will be unmatched by any hotel in the country," said Hughes.

"The addition of The Ritz-Carlton, Santiago to our collection of hotels and resorts throughout the world is an important strategic move," said Simon Cooper, president and chief operating officer, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. "We believe a presence in Chile's capital city is key to the success of our global expansion. As our first hotel in Latin America, this property will attract discerning business and leisure travelers who already use Ritz-Carlton hotels in other countries. We look forward to playing an active role in the business and social community of Santiago," he added.

Dining at The Ritz-Carlton, Santiago will offer a distinctive taste of regional cuisine and wine. Under the direction of Executive Chef Joerg Delin, the hotel's signature restaurant, Adra, will be open for three meals daily. Menu selections will change with the seasons.  The opening dinner menu will feature hearty winter seasonal dishes, including entrees of Pacific conger eel with scallops, clams and mussels and Patagonian lamb carre, baked with cardamom.

Wine 365, Chile's first bar to offer enough varieties of regional wines by the bottle and the glass to provide a different taste of Chilean vineyards for every day of the year, will also offer tastings and seminars for the sophisticated wine lover. The wine list was drawn up in consultation with Chilean master sommelier, Hector Vergara. More than 100 vineyards are represented, with traditional favorites including Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to less well-known Cabernet Franc, Viognier, and Zinfandel. During the day, patrons at Wine 365 can match food with their choice of wine from a bistro menu of light fare. In the evenings, guests will sample wine flights to the tune of live entertainment. Decor at Wine 365 is sleek and modern, with floors of black and beige marble, and wood veneer-covered walls. Decorative accents, related to wine, will include cork, wood and glass for a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The 205 rooms and suites at The Ritz-Carlton, Santiago will include one Ritz-Carlton suite, 12 executive Suites and three club suites. Club guests will enjoy the privacy of a floor accessible only by elevator key, with a lounge area offering complimentary food and beverage light fare throughout the day. The lounge will be staffed by a dedicated team of multi-lingual concierge.
