National Trust Historic Hotels of America® to
Recommend StayOnline's Wireless Solution
Marriage of High Tech and History Sets a Wireless Standard
-
New Orleans & Atlanta, June 24, 2003 Today, StayOnline announced that Historic Hotels of America® (HHA) has agreed to recommend the StayOnline wireless solution to its member hotels.

As we take active steps to help move our historic hotels to the forefront of 21st century technology, we will be promoting the StayOnline solution as the High-Speed Internet access solution of choice to all our members, said Thierry Roch, Executive Director of HHA.  The travelers who stay at our member properties seek out upscale and unique hotels which offer not only a prestigious address, but state-of-the-art amenities as well. Our hotel members are firmly established in the minds of business travelers who demand wireless access to the Internet.  This partnership with StayOnline was a natural next step for us.

Washington, DC based HHA is a membership organization representing 200 historic hotel and resort properties throughout the US.  HHA members offer more than 33,000 hotel rooms at cherished historic hotel properties and resorts, which are 50 years old or older.

Historic properties, by their very nature, are often difficult to wire for the required functions of todays travelers and the back office needs of the hotel.  Those hotels that are members of the Historic Hotels of America, in many cases,  want to stay faithful to maintaining the original architecture and historic integrity of their buildings to keep their historical value.

A lot of plugs, wires and phone jacks does not make for a very authentic experience at a historic hotel, said Antonio DiMilia , President of StayOnline. Since 80% or more of upscale business travelers bring along a laptop and a cell phone on both business and leisure trips, staying in a historic hotel with wireless access will keep them in communication with their offices or families and solve the problem for the hotel of meeting the standards of historic preservation.  We think this is a perfect marriage between high tech and history.

Adding StayOnline and High-Speed wireless Internet access to the La Fonda has been fantastic, said Jim Bradbury, General Manager of the historic Santa Fe hotel.  It has given us a decided marketing point of difference in the Santa Fe arena and we have already booked meetings business we might not have had because of it.

Because of our historic nature and the degrees of difficulty inherent in trying to hardwire an historic structure, wireless was our best choice and StayOnline has been superb to work with both on the installation and in its continuing role of technical and customer support, he added.
