Restaurant Venture with Marriott International

WASHINGTON April 17, 2003 Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) today announced the opening of the Seattle Marriott Waterfront hotel, the companys first full-service Marriott hotel in downtown Seattle.  The 358-room property is located at 2100 Alaskan Way and is owned by CNL Hospitality Properties, Inc. and managed by Marriott International.  The hotel plans to employ over 300 associates.

Were very proud to be downtown Seattles first full-service Marriott hotel and just the second hotel on Seattles famous waterfront.  This is an exciting property with a great location, unique design and an outstanding restaurant run by one of Americas hottest celebrity chefs, Todd English, said Dan Banchiu, general manager, Seattle Marriott Waterfront.

Fish Club, located inside the hotel, is Todd Englishs first restaurant in the Pacific Northwest and his first venture with Marriott International.  Featuring floor-to-ceiling windows accented by warm lighting, subtle hues and live jazz, Fish Clubs menu draws from cultures around the world offering a variety of seafood-centric dishes.  Starters include, lobster and chanterelle crepe, cornmeal-coated calamari and Louisiana gumbo. Featured entrees include Alaskan halibut steak with bouillabaisse sauce, a Chinese-influenced black bass and Cantonese-style Dungeness crab wok fried with ginger.  Guests can also enjoy cocktails, appetizers and a special afternoon tea service in the Lobby Bar, Starbucks coffees and light snacks at the Trolley Café, and 24-hour room service.

The Seattle Marriott Waterfront overlooks Elliott Bay and is located along the central waterfront district across from the Bell Harbor International Conference Center.  The hotel is approximately 15 miles from SeaTac International Airport and within walking distance of major attractions and shopping destinations, including Place Market, the Seattle Aquarium, the Space Needle and Seattle Center.  Area companies within close proximity include Nordstrom Inc., Starbucks Coffee Company, Microsoft Corporation and RealNetworks, Inc.

Ideal for both business and social occasions, the Seattle Marriott Waterfront offers 11 meeting rooms and over 11,000 square feet of meeting space.  For large-scale functions, the hotel features the 7,937-square-foot Grand Pacific Ballroom, divisible into seven smaller spaces.

The hotels unique contemporary design draws inspiration from its surroundings and incorporates the natural elements of water, light and sky.  The exterior features polished pre-cast concrete and natural stone, and the interior décor utilizes rich walnut detailing, natural stone, colorful glass mosaic tiles and back-lit onyx and fused glass accent walls.  A one-of-a-kind seascape rooftop design employs colored concrete pavers and recycled glass pavers to mimic a water view and the look of courtyard gardens.

All guest rooms at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront overlook Elliott Bay, with views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountain range.  Approximately half offer private balconies.  Guest rooms are elegantly appointed and feature the signature Marriott Bed, with quilted-top mattresses, upgraded down blankets, oversized comforters and feather pillows.
