Mexico City-based Hoteles Marquis Opens the 240-suite
Marquis Los Cabos Beach, Golf, Spa
and Casitas Resort

LOS CABOS, Mexico - April 9, 2003 -- With a dramatic 36-foot waterfall, a chef with a Michelin pedigree, and a major Latin American art collection, the new 240-suite Marquis Los Cabos Beach, Golf, Spa and Casitas Resort is now open.

The resort, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, is on the tip of Baja California, where the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean meet. It is nestled between two professional 18-hole golf courses, one of which is ranked number one in Mexico.

Marquis Los Cabos is the newest addition to Hoteles Marquis. "Our sister hotel in Mexico City, Marquis Reforma, was the first hotel in the capital city to earn the coveted ISO Award for service and enjoys the prestige of belonging to Leading Hotels of the World and Small Luxury Hotels of the World," said Ella Messerli, General Manager. "We're committed to bringing this outstanding tradition of service and hospitality to Marquis Los Cabos."

Privacy and romance rule the day as a complimentary Marquis breakfast complete with coffee or tea, bread-basket and fresh fruit is delivered daily to each room via a small alcove adjacent to the guestroom door, and a masseuse is available for in-room or beachfront massages. The largest spa in Los Cabos, at close to 27,000 square feet, opens in December and will feature holistic spa treatments that use indigenous ingredients, such as cactus oils, sea salt and agave. Guests are offered a variety of these spa treatments in a private casita until the spa opens. Guests can choose among two bars and three distinctive restaurants, including the 20-seat gourmet venue, Canto del Mar, where Chef Thierry Dufour, trained in Michelin-starred restaurants, personally prepares every meal and there are no printed menus.

Owned and operated by Hoteles Marquis, the new property boasts 204 Junior suites, five deluxe double-height Marquis Suites with its own pool, the Marquesa del Mar Presidential Suite and 28 "casitas." The stylish casitas redefine a house on the beach as one-bedroom apartments with ocean views, large living area and kitchenette for entertaining and private pool. The Resort honors its distinct natural surroundings with views from every room of the open beach and several gardens filled with colorful local flowers and cacti. All the suites, including the spacious 2,604 square-foot Marquesa del Mar Presidential Suite, offer luxurious amenities, choice of reversible firm or soft mattress, goose-down comforters, Frette bed linens, internet access, full hydro-massage bath with an ocean view, and plush robes and slippers for lounging on each room's personal balcony.

Marquis Los Cabos will also be known for its expansive meeting facilities. Along with an 8,054 square foot ballroom, the resort offers a business center and a well-appointed shopping area.

Marquis Los Cabos is combining contemporary Mexican architecture with traditional Southwestern Santa Fe style, to create an elegant, comfortable design all its own. An extensive art collection features specially commissioned works by leading Latin American artists including: Ana Mercedes Hoyos, Carlos Rios, Augustin Castro, and Fernando Garrido. An original oil painting is featured in each suite. The property is located in the "Cabo Real" section of Los Cabos, just six miles from the airport and only five miles from downtown Los Cabos, nestled between the lush Robert Trent Jones, Jr.-designed Cabo Real and Jack Nicklaus-designed El Dorado golf courses.
