U.S. Patent Granted for Process to Restore Polished Stone

New York, NY, March 11, 2003 - U.S. Patent has been granted for a process to restore and protect polished stone called Stone-Sentinel. Patent No. 6,423,381 acknowledges Stone-Sentinel as an invention, which has significantly advanced the prior state of the art.

This unique treatment is designed to enhance stone surfaces such as guest bathroom vanities, shower surrounds, floors, bar tops, registration desks, walls and more.  Prior to this invention, stone restoration required slow, expensive mechanical polishing and afforded no stain protection. Stone-Sentinel brings the protection of polished stone into the space age.

Its patent covers the unique ultraviolet (UV) energy curing process and chemistry the system employs. Stone-Sentinel uses UV energy with special ingredients called photo-initiators to react, literally at the speed of light, producing an attractive, durable new finish. This is great news for hotel operators as this rapid finishing process prevents the loss of room revenues. Upon completion, restored surfaces can be returned to service immediately. Stone Sentinel provides high performance with simple care; treated surfaces are impervious to food, beverage stains and are easily maintained by damp towel wiping.

Stuart Dean's VP of Lodging Gregory Schall reports, "Hotel operators are embracing Stone-Sentinel. It's a revolutionary treatment to restore and protect natural stone that saves time and money without taking guestrooms out of service."
