Sydney’s Manly Pacific Hotel Now Operated by Accor;
Will Be Rebranded Novotel After Renovation
18 March 2003: One of Sydney’s most famous beachside hotels, the Manly Pacific, has joined the Accor network and is set to undergo a multi-million dollar renovation.

The hotel, originally opened in 1982, has been a highly popular hotel for overseas tourists, conference and incentive groups, and business travellers, with Manly Beach easily accessible to the Sydney city centre via car, ferry or JetCat (20 minutes to Circular Quay).

Accor will work with the new owners to refurbish the hotel, with the intention of rebranding it to a Novotel. Until the renovations are complete, the hotel will operate as the Manly Pacific Hotel, managed by Novotel.

Accor won the management contract from present incumbents, Six Continents, who previously operated the hotel under the Parkroyal brand.

With a superb location right on Manly Beach, the 166 room hotel overlooks the Pacific Ocean, with all the attractions of sailing, swimming, windsurfing, cycling, rollerblading, tennis and golf on the hotel’s doorstep.

The hotel’s resort-style features include a heated outdoor pool, spa, sauna and health centre, as well as two restaurants, a gaming lounge and cocktail bar. The new owners plan to reinvigorate the bar and restaurant areas, taking advantage of the hotel’s premier beachfront location.

The Manly Pacific Hotel is the ideal venue for meeting, conference and incentive planners with eight meeting rooms, including the Grand Ballroom, which offers 572 square metres of pillarless, flexible conference space with unparalleled ocean views and a large pre function area, ideally suited to product displays and trade exhibitions.

New General Manager, Richard Holt, said the hotel had always been popular with international tourists who wanted a combination of harbour and beach setting and city convenience.

“With the city centre just 20 minutes away from Manly by high-speed JetCat, visitors to Sydney can enjoy the perfect combination of resort-style setting and facilities and city convenience,” said Holt.
“With new owners and new managers we will revitalise the hotel and we will be particularly targeting the European and Asian leisure and MICE sectors who are well aware of the Novotel brand and who already use our many resorts and city hotels across Australia.”

Holt said that Manly had developed strongly as a Sydney destination in its own right with food and wine festivals, jazz weekends and a highly sophisticated nightlife complementing the natural attractions of the location.

Accor is the worldwide leader in hotels, tourism and corporate services, employing 150,000 people in 140 countries.
