MALTA, March 17, 2003 � The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) announced the opening of InterContinental Malta, a premier venue for corporate and leisure travelers.  Built to meet the fast-growing meeting and incentive market, this luxurious 5-star hotel features 451 guest rooms, 19 meeting rooms, six restaurants and bars and 17,200 square feet of function space. In addition to tailoring to the corporate travel market, the InterContinental Malta generates a tranquil atmosphere for the leisure traveler to enjoy exclusivity at its best. 
 
The InterContinental Malta is owned by Eden Leisure Group, and is under long-term management contract to InterContinental Hotels & Resorts of Six Continents Hotels

Designed by the Maltese architectural firm Bezzina & Cole and Di Leonardo, a U.S. design firm, the InterContinental Malta redefines the meaning of elegance, hospitality and service.  Situated in a prime location of St George's Bay, a few minutes walk from the vibrant entertainment, shopping and restaurant area of St Julian's, and only four miles from the historic capital of Valletta, the hotel brings a new dimension to the corporate conference market with its choice of meeting rooms � the largest has 740 theatre-style

The InterContinental Malta has outdoor, and indoor pools, a full beauty treatment center, and a health and fitness center.  The top three floors of the hotel house 113 Club guestrooms and suites, including the Presidential Suite and the Club InterContinental Lounge.

The InterContinental Malta also has a selection of fine restaurants and bars.  Freshly made delicacies can be savored in the relaxed surrounding of the Lobby Bar.  A feast of oriental dishes will tantalize guests at the Eastern Breeze Restaurant.  The main restaurant, Harruba, captures the essence of the Mediterranean and international cuisine.  Soprano, tempts you with a carefully designed menu of Mediterranean and Italian dishes.  Guests can also relax on the terrace of the Al Fresco Restaurant, while the Carissa Bar, with live entertainment in the evening, offers stunning views over the garden.  Narcis, the pool deck grill & bar, serves delicious barbecues, light meals and cocktails.  The 24-hour room service menu allows guests to relax in the comfort and privacy of their own rooms and at the same time enjoy the quality presentation of a fine dining restaurant.
