 The Edgewater, Seattle, Completes Four-year
$7.5 million Renovation
SEATTLE, WASH. - (February 27, 2003) - The Edgewater, Seattles only waterfront hotel, announces the debut of the renovated Olympic Ballroom.  Its completion marks the end of a series of meeting space renovations at The Edgewater, which began in April 2002, and the culmination of four years of improvements made by the hotels owner, Noble House Hotels and Resorts.  The transformation of the Olympic Ballroom, which can hold up to 220 guests during a seated event, adds the final touch to the most recent $500,000 renovation project, designed to update the landmark hotel, built in 1962 for the Worlds Fair, while maintaining the Pacific Northwest aesthetic of the property.  The meeting space portion of the renovation completes a four-year long, $7.5 million renovation completed at The Edgewater which also included elaborate enhancements to the hotel lobby, outside entryway, restaurant, lounge and guestrooms, including gas fireplaces in each room. The hotel has also installed high-speed, wireless, Internet access to all guestrooms, meeting rooms and public space.

The Olympic Ballroom is the much anticipated finale of our overall property renovation project, said Dave Cocks, managing director of The Edgewater. Not only do we offer a truly authentic Seattle experience for our guests, but our ballroom offers the absolute best views in town for locals that wish to hold social or professional events at The Edgewater.

The Olympic Ballroom has been transformed by a native color palette of sage, topaz and serene earth tones, which combine to create a flexible environment for special events.  Other design elements include muted green and beige colored leaf-print carpeting and light fixtures including nine ornate, Lorraine Versailles crystal and iron chandeliers and ten crystal wall sconces, all with a rustic antique finish.

Soft sage-colored doors, bamboo wall coverings, crown molding and wood-framed mirrors echo the themes of the Pacific Northwest.  Other enhancements include the addition of hand-cut fir panels on ceiling and wall space, a natural fir finish on exposed beams and flowing sheer drapery panels which veil the floor-to-ceiling window wall that provides sweeping views of Elliott Bay and the Olympic mountains.

The enhanced space includes nine adjustable light panels that allow atmosphere and mood control while two alcoves, studded with four crystal sconces and original framed artwork, create the perfect location for a buffet or a conference check-in site.  Hand cut fir beams join at the center of the 18-foot high ceiling, creating a dramatic space for a couples first dance, or the opening address of a corporate meeting.  Four large mirrors frame this central area, reflecting views of Elliott Bay, and adding a warm blue radiance throughout the room.

With a customized stereo system that produces theater-quality surround sound, the Olympic Ballroom is equipped for the 21st century.  The Ballroom is prepared for high-tech functions, offering high-speed wireless Internet access as well as multiple sources for microphones and speaker systems, and CD and DVD capabilities.

The adjoining Terrace Room also has a fresh new face.  Slate stairs, which lead to the private banquet kitchen, provide an unobtrusive route to transport food and beverage and a split log pine mantle was added to the River Rock fireplace, enhancing the urban lodge feel of the facility.  The highlight of the Terrace update is the installation of dramatic eight-foot French doors, which open onto a 1,200 square foot terrace.  The veranda, secured by an elaborate log beam balcony, allows guests to access unimpeded views of the Seattle skyline, from the Space Needle to Mt. Rainier.  Three large mirrors and two crystal chandeliers make the versatile Terrace Room an elegant space in which to relax over cocktails or host a comfortable executive retreat.

The Foyer, used as a pre-function space for the charity events, weddings and banquets that occur in the Olympic and Terrace rooms, is updated with new furnishings and remodeled restrooms that include Parisian pedestal sinks, chrome and crystal fixtures and Brazilian black slate.  Noble House also plans further guestroom enhancements in 2003 and 2004 to include a total remodel of guestroom bathrooms, the addition of flat screen televisions, plush new bed linens and duvets, and hand-made timber armoires.

The four-story, 234-room Edgewater, owned by Noble House Hotels and Resorts, is Seattles original waterfront hotel.  Built in 1962 for the worlds fair, it has become a Seattle landmark.  In the summer of 1964, the Beatles fished from the window of room 272 during their first American tour.  The rooftop E provides direction for ships navigating the Puget Sound. The Edgewater is located at Pier 67 at 2411 Alaskan Way.

Owned by Pat Colee, Noble House Hotels and Resorts comprises 12 unique properties in six states across the United States.
