COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, March 11, 2003 -- Cheyenne Mountain Resort is spending $3 million on improvements and enhancements to this upscale resort set in the Colorado Rockies in the shadow of famed Pike's Peak.  Work will begin April 1 and be completed by June in time for the start of the high summer season.

The renovation will include a complete redo of three-quarters of the guest room bathrooms, all suites, two meeting rooms and the Aquatics Center.  In addition, various improvements will be made to the guest rooms, the Fitness Center, the boardroom and amphitheater, and the Club House.

New granite vanities, fixtures, wall sconces and ceramic stone floors will be installed in 228 bathrooms, as well as new custom lighting, wall fabric, framed mirrors and art on the walls. The resort's five suites will emerge with an all-new Colorado look with the replacement of everything from furniture, bedding, drapes and fixtures to carpets, paint and molding.  In all guest rooms, televisions will be upgraded to 27 inches; air conditioning units will be replaced in 240 units; and half the guest rooms will receive new posturepedic plush mattresses and bedspreads with shams and valances.

The 4,601-square-foot Grand Rivers and 3,080-square-foot Cheyenne meeting rooms will be fully remodeled including new paint, carpet, fixtures, wall coverings and wall sconces.  The boardroom and the tiered amphitheater will receive some new furniture and wall fabrics.

The Fitness Center will be revamped with new lighting, carpet, paint and equipment as well as a new workout area dedicated to spinning classes and free weights. The Aquatics Center will receive all-new decor including a new lobby entry area and upgraded lockers. The Club House will be enhanced with new carpet and furniture.
