“PHR recognized that the hotel was in a central location in a market that continues to enjoy great tourism growth,” said Charles Diliello, general manager of the Travelodge.  “We just needed to upgrade the facilities to meet PHR’s high standards for customer satisfaction,” he continued.   Diliello is a 10-year veteran of the hospitality industry with proven in-the-trenches knowledge of the business, having first begun his career as a front desk clerk in Syracuse, New York, eventually serving as assistant general manager of the Hampton Inn of Andover, Massachusetts before his recruitment by PHR.

The four-story, 96-room property is located on the Beach Road, directly across from a public beach access.  The outdoor freshwater pool was remodeled, with a new pool deck and waterfall.  Extensive upgraded landscaping was installed.  All guestrooms have received new carpet, drapes, mini-refrigerators, and electronic door locks.  New carpet, wallpaper and artwork updated the hallways. The lobby was refurbished with new furniture and a new breakfast bar.  Offices received a new computer system and the exterior of the property was painted.

Built in 1988 under the Howard Johnsons brand, it came under the Travelodge umbrella in 2002.  All rooms offer a microwave, mini-fridge, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, coffee maker and private balcony.  Travelodge Nags Head Beach Hotel is one of the few hotels in the area to offer a year-round free continental breakfast to guests. The property is also one of only two hotels in the area to allow pets in selected rooms, with an additional fee.
