Eden Roc Miami Beach, A Renaissance Resort And Spa,
Completes $17 million Renovation
MIAMI BEACH, FL -- (January 21, 2003) -- Eden Roc Miami Beach, A Renaissance Resort And Spa, announces completion of its $17 million renovation program that included a re-design of the resort's meeting space, fine dining and casual dining restaurants, and pool areas. The new beachside restaurant, Aquatica, will also open in late January with stunning new design, contemporary cuisine and fantastic ocean views.

Meeting planners will appreciate the changes in Eden Roc's meeting space, which include new soft goods in the Cotillion and Mona Lisa ballrooms (The Grand Ballroom was redone in 1999), major reconfiguration of the lower conference center level meeting space creating five new meeting rooms, group office, and several new seating areas for pre- or post-meeting networking or relaxing.  The lower lobby meeting space features dark wood detailing and soft hues of brown and gold.  The resort will continue to offer a full-service business center and on-site car rental center.

The main pool area celebrates a dramatic facelift, including new pool decking, two

new oceanfront Jacuzzis, symmetrical fountains offering the soothing sound of running water, and upgraded event space in the Spa Garden.  New landscaping including stately rows of Mallorca Palms framing each side of the resort's Olympic-size pool will be accented by a specially designed lighting system that changes the look of the pool from day to night.  A new sound system and T-1 phone lines enable groups to host exciting events at poolside with multi-media support.

Aquatica, the resort's new beachside restaurant is scheduled to open by end of January 2003 and will offer a casual lunch menu consisting of salads, soup, sandwiches and regional specialties, with the addition of steak and seafood dishes on the dinner menu.  Guests may choose to dine alfresco overlooking 'One of the World's Top 10 Beaches' or eat in air-conditioned comfort enjoying a view of the restaurant's upstairs swimming pool through large glass "porthole" windows. The restaurant will feature a chic nautical design with sleek lines and rich colors that bring the ocean into the atmosphere.  The upstairs pool was redone with new tile and decking, and accented with potted plants.

"We are thrilled to announce the completion of this latest renovation enhancement program.  The owners commitment to restore this legendary property to its former glory is closer to perfection than ever," said Randy Griffin, Eden Roc's director of marketing.  "The second phase of our renovation ensures that Miami Beach's premier resort for both business and leisure travelers alike offers a sophisticated vacation or meeting location with the level of service and amenities expected."
The renovation was primarily under the direction of Spillis Candela DMJM, the architectural firm that collaborated with Morris Lapidus in 1999 to restore his vision of this legendary property.
