 Choice Hotels Canada Finalizes 25
Hotel Agreements in 2002
TORONTO, ON, January 25, 2003 - Last year was a busy one at Choice Hotels Canada. In one year's time, the company launched a new guest rewards program, Choice Club Plus, introduced several successful new programs to assist its franchisees and finalized 25 hotel agreements with 2416 guest rooms. The result was a very strong year with the highest number of guest rooms signed in the company's history.

"Choice Hotels Canada achieved strong financial results in a challenging year," said Frank Zaid, a director on the Choice Hotels Canada board since 1993. "By working cohesively with its franchisees, Choice has positioned itself as the market leader in the Canadian hospitality industry."

With the feedback and assistance of its franchisees, CHC launched its new guest reward program, Choice Club Plus; re-imaged three of its brands - Comfort Suites, Quality and Sleep; installed a propriety property management system in the Clarion, Quality, Comfort Suites, Comfort and Sleep hotels; and ran two television advertising campaigns. The successful launch of all of these initiatives resulted from the feedback given by franchisees at the many town hall meetings held over the past two years.

In franchise development, CHC continued to grow strategically with 25 hotel franchising agreements signed for hotels located across the country, with one in Atlantic Canada, seven in Quebec, nine in Ontario and eight in Western Canada. The total of 2416 guest rooms is the highest number of rooms ever for the company, while the number of agreements signed matches the impressive record set in 2001. Agreements were signed for Clarion, Quality, Comfort Suites, Comfort, Econo Lodge and Rodeway brands. 

"As the first quarter of 2003 begins, I am pleased to say that we are off to a strong start and look forward to another successful year," said Decatur. "We will continue our strategic growth and will work closely with our franchisees to further ensure their success and enhance Choice's strong presence in Canada," he continued.
