Rewards of Onity’s Senercomm Solutions |
ATLANTA / SAO PAULO, BRAZIL — FEB. 3, 2003 — When the Hilton Group plc designed its new $90 million Hilton Sao Paulo Morumbi, the Americas’ largest showcase property, Hilton incorporated Onity/Senercomm’s energy management systems (EMS). Hilton’s first hotel in the world designed with the brand’s new guest-centric Rooms of the Future Concept, the 485-room Hilton Morumbi, which opened October 2002, deployed Onity/Senercomm EMS solutions to help combat a major power shortage in Brazil’s capitol city. The Senercomm EMS solution has been proven to dramatically reduce guestroom energy consumption — typically providing a complete payback in 24 to 36 months, with ROI often amounting to tens of thousands of dollars in annual savings added directly to the property’s bottom line for the life of the system, or 10-plus years thereafter. Laura R. Acuña, Onity Global Product Manager, said the Onity/Senercomm solutions installed in the Hilton Sao Paulo Morumbi, Hilton’s most modern, technologically sophisticated property in Brazil, differ widely from common thermostat controls available in the global hospitality market. Specifically, the Onity/Senercomm EMS solutions in place at this one-of-a-kind destination incorporate infrared motion-based sensors that detect guests’ presence in guestrooms. If the sensors do not detect guests‘ presence, then the air conditioning/heating systems, which consume the most energy in hotels, automatically default to preset economical temperature setbacks. Motion-based programmable temperature setbacks allow for optimal guestroom energy savings, with minimal exposure to room temperature-related guest complaints and loyalty issues. Onity/Senercomm EMS solutions allow managers on-line monitoring of entire air-conditioning/heating systems, as well as the issuance of management reports and the incorporation of preventive security measures and maintenance alarms. Onity/Senercomm EMS solutions are in use in hundreds of thousands of guestrooms across the globe, including four-star-ranked properties owned and operated by Hilton Hotels and Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, as well as hotels of all sizes in the mid-market, economy and extended-stay segments. “For a world-class conference center like the $90 million Hilton Morumbi, nothing short of world-class solutions and support will do the job,” said Ernesto Fernandez, Hilton International VP Engineering – The Americas. “Onity offers a one-stop shop for proven electronic solutions — everything from e-locks and safes, to energy management and CCTV — allowing Hilton properties to conduct more business with one proven provider that can streamline the purchasing process and give one-source, one-call accountability,” Fernandez said. “Just as important as Onity’s breadth of electronic hospitality solutions and their proven ROI, this market leader is uniquely positioned to provide around-the-clock, around-the-globe professional service and support.” About Onity
