The Aston Waikiki Parkside Hotel To
Undergo $2.1 Million Renovation

HONOLULU (Feb. 14, 2003) Aston Hotels & Resorts®Hawaii announced today that the Aston Waikiki Parkside Hotel will be undergoing a $2.1 million stylized renovation.

Effective Feb. 18, 2003, the property will close for renovation and the upgrading of mechanical systems, including its air conditioning system. The hotel will undergo a transformation of its public spaces and room interiors, with a scheduled reopening in summer of 2003. The closure of the hotel will permit the completion of the renovation without inconveniences to guests and will allow for an early reopening.

The closure of the property allows us to focus on the completion of the renovation

and to reopen as a defined new property with a stylized concept, said Kelvin Bloom, president of Aston Hotels & Resorts®Hawaii. Upon reopening, we expect to continue to service our repeat guests who have been returning for years and are excited at the potential of attracting new clientele who are seeking the experience of our newly themed property.

Conceptualized by interior designer Jonathan Staub of Philpotts and Associates, the design is an inspiration of island infusion that include elements such as framed photography by John Mozo who specializes in capturing the movement of the ocean in a style that redefines the power in waves.

The new hotel will embody the spirit of water that can be as soothing as a soft stream through a gracious Nuuanu neighborhood or as mighty as the monster waves of the North Shore of Oahu.

A sultry sophisticated entrance is planned which includes vertical blue drapes towering two-and-a-half stories high. The pool will be newly tiled with a wave motif and the deck striped in sailor blue and white, giving it yacht club appeal. Hallways will be decorated with carpet adorned with oversized coral and flanked by water patterned wallpaper, evoking a sense of walking along the sandy bottom of the ocean. The front desk counter will be replaced in black granite with a Hawaiian canoe hanging above, blending urban Waikiki with a cultural twist.

Hotel rooms will be completely made over, adding other representative elements of water including new saruse teak furnishings that give the look and feel of weathered driftwood, shower curtains in a pattern of bubbles, and headboards made of translucent sea glass blue acrylic.

The renovation is the latest in a series of Aston Hawaiis stylized renovation projects. Aston Hawaiis new millennium began with the $2 million renovation of the surf-themed Aston Aloha Surf Hotel and the $30 million renovation of the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel, a style of hip Hawaiiana that reflects the urban fun of Waikiki beach with hints of Hawaiian nostalgia.

Based in Honolulu, Aston®Hawaii operates 33 condominium resorts and hotels on the four major Hawaiian islands.
