The Legacy of a Leader Commemorates Michigan State's
School of Hospitality Business 75th year Anniversary
East Lansing, MI � October 9� This year�s Michigan State University (MSU) The School of Hospitality Business Homecoming activities promise to be better than ever as a record number of alumni return to campus for an extraordinary Rededication Ceremony and unveiling of The School�s history book, The Legacy of a Leader, commemorating The School�s 75th year anniversary, The School�s Director and Professor Ronald Cichy announced today.  

According to Cichy, The School�s rededication papers will be signed October 17 by school alumni, faculty, MSU executives, MSU Trustees, Michigan Hotel, Motel and Resort Association (Michigan Hotel Association�s successors) and student leaders.  The signing will take place in the former office of Kenyon Butterfield, the president of Michigan State College in 1927.  Immediately following the ceremony, attendees will attend a 75th Anniversary Homecoming Reception at MSU President�s Residence, Cowles House.

In discussing the ceremony and book unveiling Cichy said, �Since our beginnings in 1927, The School has graduated 8,500 alumni, and has gone on to become the leading Hospitality Business School in the world.  We�re very proud of both the accomplishments of our School and of the success of our graduates.  This rededication and book unveiling offer a unique opportunity to recognize our past and set the stage for what promises to be an exceptional future.�  

To be unveiled at the rededication, The Legacy of the Leader details the rich history of The School, and includes alumni memories, societal and industry trends, school highlights, and   provides broad background and content.  The exquisite collector�s publication boasts over  440 pages and 300 images, along with a listing of every graduate of The School.  Those interested in ordering a copy should contact Lena Loeffler at 517-353-9211 or [email protected].

Concluded Cichy, �Since our School was founded 75 years ago, we have produced many of the luminaries of our industry -- chairmen for dozens of the most prominent hotel and food service companies around the world, for example, are all graduates from The School of Hospitality Business.  Today we look back at our humble beginnings and thank the many individuals and organizations who have invested so selflessly of themselves and their time to help us grow and succeed.  We thank them as we look forward to preparing our industry�s future leaders, and they continue to build upon our success and help our industry grow and prosper.�
