These annual awards are HSMAIs way of paying tribute to them, and hopefully encouraging others to make similar commitments to their careers, the discipline and the industry, Gilbert adds.

Winthrop W. Grice Award:

With a career that has spanned 40 years in hospitality and travel marketing, Bunny Grossinger is the 14th honoree of the Winthrop W. Grice award.  Grossinger, who has been recognized for pioneering the opening of U.S. markets abroad and cited for recognizing segments markets most notably her work with women business travelers got her start in the sales and marketing department at the Grossinger Hotel and Country Club in Grossinger, New York.

Throughout her long career, she worked at a number of companies, including Global Four Star Tours, Global of London, Encore Travel Marketing, and KLM Airlines.  At Western Union Travel Services, she served as regional director of corporate sales, and at Encore, a division of American Leisure Industries, she was director of industry relations.  Today, she heads the consulting firm, Bunny Grossinger Enterprises.

Active in community affairs, Grossinger served on the New York State Tourism Advisory Board, as well as the New York State Job Training Partnership Council, the U.S. Congressional Tourism Caucus Advisory Board, the Governors Economic Advisory Board and the Port Authority Gateway Task Force.  She continues to remain active in the American Hotel & Lodging Association.

In 1981, Grossinger received the Travel Industry of America Award for Women of the Year, and in 1984, she was awarded an honorary doctorate from Johnson & Wales University.  She currently serves as co-chairman of the New York Academy of Travel and Tourism, and is a member of the executive committee of the New York University Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Travel Administrations advisory board.

Albert E. Koehl Award:

Peter Warren, CHME, president and founder of Warren Kremer Paino Advertising, is the 27th recipient of the Albert E. Koehl award.

Before forming Warren Kremer Paino, his advertising, promotion, and direct response efforts had been for a prestigious portfolio of companies such as the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the governments of Brazil, Panama and Morocco.

Warrens commitment to the industry has been long and fruitful.  He serves as an executive committee member on the advisory board of the New York University Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Travel Administration, the Marketing Advisory Committee of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), and is currently on the board of CTOs Greater New York Chapter.
