Vagabond Franchise System, Inc. Makes Corporate
Staff Changes; Seeks to Better Drive Revenue
to its Franchisees
LOS ANGELES, CA December 23, 2002 - Vagabond Franchise System, Inc., today announced corporate staff changes that put people in key positions to better drive revenue to its franchisees.

Camille Swanson, who joined the company in April 2002 as director of Internet promotion, assumes new responsibilities as director of Internet and marketing programs.  Swanson continues to manage the brands Internet and Web initiatives and coordinates with all franchise locations relating to their online activities.  She now also is the liaison for Vagabonds system-wide marketing programs such as 10th Night Free.

Hector Vargas moves to Vagabond Franchise System, Inc. in the new position of director of sales and marketing training.  Vargas previously was an area director of sales for Vista Inns Management Company, Vagabonds management company affiliate. He now is responsible for on-property sales and marketing training for front desk agents, managers and owners, with special emphasis on incorporating new franchise locations into the brands sales systems and processes.

In another Vista Inns Management Company move, Dean Chapman transfers from general manager of the Vagabond Inn in Hayward, California to director of operations, overseeing day-to-day management of the fourteen Vagabond locations operated by Vista.  Chapman also served previously as a district manager for Vista.

David Britton, who for the past year has filled dual roles as vice president of marketing for Vagabond Franchise System, Inc. and vice president and chief operating officer of Vista Inns Management Company, sheds his management company duties to assume expanded franchise company responsibilities.  Britton now is vice president of marketing and franchise services for Vagabond Franchise System, Inc.  He retains system-wide marketing responsibility, and now also is responsible for the companys CRS, guest relations, quality assurance, training, and travel industry sales programs and staff.

Commenting on the changes, Vagabond president Don Johnson said, As both a franchisor and - through our Vista affiliate - a manager, we have faced our share of challenges these past eighteen months.  We have the good fortune to have folks on our team that have diverse experience, and the ability to perform effectively in the roles the circumstances require.  I dont believe the tough times are over, but the changes announced today implement our strategy to leave the survival mentality behind and re-focus on growth and continuing to deliver brand benefits and revenue to our franchisees.

Vagabond Franchise System, Inc. franchises Vagabond Inn®, Vagabond Inn Executive, and Vagabond Plaza Hotel limited- and full-service, economy and mid-priced lodging properties that appeal to value conscious business and leisure travelers.  There are presently 46 Vagabond locations in California, Arizona, Washington and Nevada.
