Hayman Great Barrier Reef Training Ground for
The Hotel School InterContinental Students
Dec 01, 2002 - A group of eight year one students from The Hotel School InterContinental will depart for Hayman Island as soon as their examinations finish to spend 2 ½ months over the Christmas vacation having the best kind of working holiday. The students have been offered food and beverage and front office positions at this award-winning Barrier Reef resort throughout the peak holiday period and are looking forward to experiencing a totally different hospitality workplace environment to the five star international Hotel InterContinental Sydney.

Because they are exceptionally well trained and highly regarded throughout the industry, students at The Hotel School have over the past twelve years been offered employment opportunities during their end of year vacation. Those who go to Hayman Island feel particularly privileged as staff conditions are renowned for their high standard. There is excellent staff accommodation and the meals are almost as good as those served to guests. There is a special

After their Hayman Island experience most of the students will return to The Hotel School to commence the second year of their three year Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management degree, although some will have the option of deferring for a year if they cant tear themselves away from working in paradise!

Hayman has employed a number of Hotel School graduates. Marni Laurent is now Sales Executive, based in Sydney. Erica Trotter has just been appointed Assistant Manager. Katrina Bulous and Laura Quinn will undertake a qualitative research project on behalf of Hayman during 2003.
