 Kushner Companies Spending $25 million to Gut
Former Travelodge Hotel in Livingston, NJ;
To Reopen as The Westminster Hotel
September 24, 2002 - In a market dominated by large, impersonal hotel chains, Westminster Hospitality, an affiliate of Kushner Companies, will redefine guest experience at Westminster Hotel in Livingston, New Jersey.

Upon completion, the Westminster Hotel will feature 190 luxury guest rooms; 15,000 square feet of banquet and conference facilities; a 120-seat restaurant; and first-class amenities. The Westminster Hotel also incorporates �SmartHotel� technology, such as T1 and high-speed Internet access, wireless capabilities, and broadcast and videoconferencing services. 
 

Currently in the final phase of construction, the Westminster Hotel is scheduled for opening in January 2003 

This new independent establishment is owned and operated by Westminster Hospitality Group, an affiliate of Kushner Companies, which is partnering with the Scharf and Barad families for this venture. Kushner Companies, a leading private real estate organization based in Florham Park, New Jersey, owns and manages more than 24,000 apartment units and

manages more than 3 million square feet of office, industrial and retail space, with ownership interests in more than 6 million square feet of commercial real estate.

The Westminster Hotel is planned as the flagship for the newly-formed Westminster Hospitality Group.

Purchased in 2001, the former Travelodge Hotel is in the final phase of a comprehensive $25 million gut rehabilitation and reconstruction of the existing two- and three-story structure. 

Michael Linczyc, Vice President of Design and Development, is spearheading the evolution of Westminster Hospitality Group and overseeing development of its flagship, the Westminster Hotel. In this capacity, he is responsible for guiding the development, launch and future success of the property, which includes brand development for the independent facility and fine-tuning its design, accommodations and services. In addition, Linczyc is coordinating all construction activity and maintaining the budget and schedule. He is also responsible for selecting and implementing the hotel�s internal systems, from communications capabilities and entertainment offerings to property management and reservations systems.

A native of the United Kingdom, Linczyc was formerly affiliated with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, one of the world�s largest hotel groups. As a project director in the company�s architecture and construction department, he directed the successful opening of the New York City flagship W Times Square, overseeing all aspects of this $60 million project. Prior to that, he served as an associate with Rockwell Architecture, leading design teams for a range of projects including restaurants, hotels and retail stores. He also worked as an owner�s representative for the New York Palace Hotel, employed directly by the Brunei Investment Company. There, he was a member of the management team responsible for the $100 million renovation of this 55-story, 950-room, five-star hotel. Linczyc�s diverse hospitality background spans nearly two decades. 

Marissa Hoppe, Director of Sales and Marketing, is responsible for directing the Westminster Hotel�s strategic planning and hospitality sales efforts from inception. In addition to overseeing guest development as well as all corporate and private function reservations, she possesses in-depth knowledge regarding hospitality trends acquired through market research, competitive analysis and forecasting.

Prior to joining the Westminster Hotel, Hoppe served as sales manager/account executive at the Grand Summit Hotel in Summit, New Jersey, and as a senior sales manager at Hamptons International in Hong Kong. She earned a bachelor of science in commerce at Adamson University in Manila, Philippines; an associate degree in hotel management at the Katherine Gibbs School in New York, New York; and possesses certification for Hospitality Sales and Marketing from the American Motel & Hotel Association. In addition, she is multilingual in Japanese and Cantonese.
