 Westin Galleria & Westin Oaks Undergoing $28 million Renovation; First To Showcase New Westin Room Design
HOUSTON, TEXAS (Sept. 2002) � The 893-room Westin Galleria & Westin Oaks, located within the landmark Galleria shopping center, is undergoing an extensive $28 million property-wide renovation. With a projected completion date of Dec. 2002 for Westin Galleria and Aug. 2003 for Westin Oaks, the hotel calls for the re-design of all guestrooms and a complete renovation of the hotel�s lobbies and 85,700 square feet of meeting/exhibit space, including a 12,400 square-foot ballroom, the largest in the Uptown Houston area. The addition of a sky bridge connecting the Westin Galleria to Nordstrom, Foley�s and 70 new upscale stores in the Galleria expansion, scheduled to open in March 2003 is also included.  A newly opened full-service restaurant, Daily Grill, and a rebuilt portico will complete the renovation program.

New Guest Room Design

With larger guestrooms than those found at other Houston hotels, parent company, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. identified The Westin Galleria & Westin Oaks as the ideal location to introduce its new guestroom design.

Light cherry wood furnishings combined with an array of soothing green accents set the tone. Mesh shades over the windows allow subtle light to show through the room. Two full-length mirrors and a business desk with ergonomic chair are strategically placed within the spacious room. Westin combines residential type rooms and a refreshing sense of contemporary style with the best in modern hotel amenities, including the popular Heavenly Bed® and Heavenly Bath®, creating an all-new travel environment for Westin�s guest.

Meeting Space Renovation

The property�s 85,700 square feet of meeting space, including the Uptown area�s largest ballroom (12,400 square feet), and a 27,600 square foot exhibit hall, will be refurbished with new floor and wall coverings. Public spaces throughout both The Westin Galleria and Westin Oaks also will be updated.

New Full-Service Restaurant, Daily Grill

The Westin Galleria & Westin Oaks opened a new three-meal restaurant, Daily Grill on July 10, 2002.  Offering a variety of all-American fare, the décor and furnishings meld well with the hotel�s new look. Daily Grill joins two other hotel eateries, Zucchini�s Café and Shuckers Sports Bar.
