| September 2002 - The 2002 TIM alumni survey
was distributed to over 2,000 alumni in March of 2002. The following is
a summary of the 441 alumni who responded.
Profile of Alumni Surveyed

59% female; 41% male
-
55% are between the ages of 30-45.

Place of residence when first admitted: 75% on Oahu
-
Currently: 55% reside on Oahu, 20% US mainland, 14% overseas
-
66% hold a BBA degree, 33% BS degree, 1% MPS, 1% MS degree
-
104 alumni gone on to pursue and receive their post-baccalaureate degree
-
27 alumni have gone on to receive their MBA
-
45% emphasized in Hotel/Restaurant Management
-
18% Hotel management
-
20% Transportation management
-
13% in Tourism management.
Employment Status
-
83% hold a full-time position.
-
A little over half of those surveyed currently work in a TIM-related business
-
Others work in such fields as: entertainment, government, sales & marketing,
finance, and e-business/technology.

77% work for a private, for profit, business
-
57%, work for a subsidiary or division of a larger entity
-
72% of alumni work in the 40-60 hours/week range.
-
53% work in a company with 100 or more employees.
-
34% work in a company with fewer than 10 employees.
-
A majority of the MPS and MS students have an income greater than $70,000.

BBA alumni tend to earn a larger salary in the $30,000-60,000 range versus
BS students earning $20,000-40,000. (This discrepancy may be attributed
to the fact that those with a BBA degree have been in the industry longer.)

Overall 50% of those surveyed earn an annual salary of $60,000 or more.
Value of TIM program
-
Overall 64% of alumni rated highly the value of their TIM education. Out
of a 5 point rating system, with 5 being Excellent and 1 being Poor, TIM
education was given a 4 or 5.

Quality of instruction: 72% gave a rating of either 4 or 5.

Administrative support and advice: 65% gave a rating of either 4 or five
as well.

Value of internship program: 83% rated the programs a 4 or 5

Value of extracurricular activities: 65% gave a high rating of 4 or 5
