Food and Beverage Management |
| LANSING, Mich., July 2002 - The Educational
Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association has introduced
a new diploma curriculum in food and beverage management in response to
customer requests for expanded academic offerings in this area of hospitality
management.
"Several of the schools that offer our five-course Food and Beverage Management Area of Specialization have expressed an interest in offering a more extensive food and beverage curriculum," explained Mari Behrendt, director, academic programs. "This new program enables them to give students a greater choice of programs to help them meet their academic and professional goals." Schools that adopt the Educational Institute's new Food and Beverage Management Diploma curriculum can build a program based on 12 courses specified by EI. Schools may substitute up to four courses within the curriculum, which adds a great deal of flexibility to the program. Subjects covered within the curriculum include sanitation, supervision, facilities management, food and beverage service, food production, training, bar and beverage management, food and beverage controls, computer systems, and accounting. Students who complete the curriculum, passing each course with a score of 69 percent or higher, will receive a diploma from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association, as well as a credential from their academic institution. The new diploma program will also be available to students in EI's distance learning program and to members of EI chapters and group study programs. For more information on this new curriculum and other academic programs from EI, call 800-344-4381 or 517-372-8800, or visit EI on the Internet at www.ei-ahla.org. Established in 1953 as a nonprofit educational foundation of the American Hotel & Lodging Association, the Educational Institute is the premier source for quality hospitality education, training, and professional certification, serving the needs and advancing the excellence of hospitality schools and industries worldwide. |
