Renaissance Hotels Florida Appoints Randy Griffin to Area Director Of Marketing; New Sales Team Organized 
MIAMI, FL - May 2, 2002 - Renaissance Hotels Florida, a new cooperative sales and marketing alliance to market the brand to both business and leisure travelers visiting Florida, announced its new Director of Marketing and sales team today. 

The team will be led by Randy Griffin, former director of marketing for the Eden Roc Renaissance Resort & Spa in Miami Beach, and consists of top sales producers who have worked for the Florida hotels within the past five years. They work together via Internet-based technology and are based at the current member hotels, which include Renaissance Orlando Resort at SeaWorld, Orlando, Florida; Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, St. Petersburg, Florida; Eden Roc Renaissance Resort & Spa, Miami Beach, Florida; and Renaissance Miami-Biscayne Bay, Miami, Florida. The Renaissance Hotels Florida sales team is organized by geographic region as well as business source type, and includes:

  • Bryan Schacht, Director of Sales, Southeast Corporate Sales, Atlanta to Carolinas

Randy Griffin brings more than 20 years of experience to his new post at Renaissance Hotels Florida. As Area Director of Sales & Marketing, he has been instrumental in creating the Renaissance Hotels Florida sales team and will be responsible for managing the team in a proactive sales effort to increase group and leisure revenues for all participating hotels by leveraging multiple destinations to like customers throughout the southeastern U.S.  Griffin will also oversee all aspects of the advertising and public relations campaigns for the new sales and marketing initiative.  Since 1998, Randy has served as director of sales and marketing for the Eden Roc Resort & Spa, which is where he will maintain his office. Prior to that, he served as director of marketing for the Crowne Plaza Hotel Miami-Biscayne Bay (currently the Renaissance Miami-Biscayne Bay Hotel) and Sheraton Design Center Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, both managed by Miami-based Carnival Hotels and Resorts.  To recognize his outstanding accomplishments, Carnival named him �Director of Marketing of the Year� in 1994.

Originally from Georgia, Bryan Schacht brings 17 years of hospitality resort experience to his new post for Renaissance Hotels Florida. As Director of Sales for Southeast Corporate, he is responsible for corporate sales in the northern Atlanta and Carolinas region. Since 1999, Bryan has served as director of group sales at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, which is where he will continue to maintain an office. Prior to that, he served as national sales manager for the Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia and the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia where he was named the top sales manager in 1998. Bryan launched his career at the Renaissance PineIsle Resort of Lake Lanier Islands, Georgia. During his ten years at the property, he served as a sales manager, catering and conference services manager, and a specialty restaurant manager. Bryan is a member of Meeting Planners International (MPI) and Who�s Who International.  

Wendy Traurig, a 24-year veteran of the hospitality industry, will serve as Director of Sales for Southeast Corporate from Key West to Orlando, Florida.  A native of Miami, she will be based at the Eden Roc Renaissance Resort & Spa in Miami Beach where she has served as Director of Sales at for the past 3-1/2 years.  Prior to joining Renaissance, Wendy held positions in operations and sales management for Four Seasons, Hyatt, Omni, Crowne Plaza, Wyndham, and Destination Hotels & Resorts. She is a Leadership Miami graduate, HSMAI Gold Coast Past-President, and Treasurer of a Triple F Investment Club in South Florida.

Laura Alsup, a graduate of the University of Central Florida, has worked in hotel sales for the past 15 years and joined the Renaissance Orlando Resort at SeaWorld in May 2000.  As Senior Account Executive for Southeast Corporate Sales for Renaissance Hotels Florida, she will be responsible for managing corporate market accounts from northern Orlando to southern Atlanta. Prior to joining Renaissance, she was based in Washington, DC as director of corporate and association sales for the Diplomat Resort & Country Club in Hollywood, Florida. Laura is a member of Meeting Planners International (MPI) and GOAMPI, the Orlando Chapter of MPI, and will maintain her office in Orlando.

Native Floridian, Karen Nosari Hollern, brings more than seven years of experience in the hospitality industry to her new position with Renaissance Hotels Florida. As Senior Account Executive, Florida State Association Sales, she is responsible for sales in the Florida State Association market for all of the Florida properties.  She will be based at the Orlando Renaissance Resort at SeaWorld where she has worked for the past 2-1/2 years.  Karen is an active member of the Tallahassee Society of Association Executives, Florida Society of Association Executives, and Central Florida Society of Association Executives.

Diane Jezdimir, a 20-year veteran of the hospitality industry, heads leisure sales for Renaissance Hotels Florida. For the past 2-1/2 years, she has served as leisure sales manager for Eden Roc Renaissance Resort & Spa in Miami Beach, where she will continue to maintain her office. Her new responsibilities include all leisure sales for the Florida hotels throughout the southeastern U.S.  Diane started her career at the Boca Raton Hotel and Club before moving to the Florida Keys, where she worked for some of the area�s top resort hotels. Prior to joining Eden Roc, she was director of sales and marketing for Figaro Travel (now Pro Travel) in Miami. She is a member of the Association of Travel Agents and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.

Renaissance Hotels Florida, a new concept for the brand, differs from other centralized sales office programs because each of the group�s sales managers is empowered to handle clients from initial query to completion of the booking on behalf of all participating hotels, handling both groups and leisure travelers in real-time. Aside from the obvious benefits of cross-selling the properties more efficiently and increasing bookings while reducing costs, it allows the customer to access a diverse collection of full service hotels and resorts throughout Florida through one contact point. The group currently includes four of the nine Renaissance Hotels, Resorts & Suites in Florida with plans to add the other hotels in the future.
