Hotel as 2001 Hotel of the Year |
PITTSBURGH, Pa. June 2002 Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel, owned by
Denver-based Sage Hospitality Resources, has been named Hotel of the Year
for 2001 by Renaissance Hotels and Resorts.
Just one year old, the luxury hotel at 107 Sixth Street in Pittsburghs Cultural District was selected from more than 120 Renaissance hotels worldwide to receive the designation. The brand targets discriminating business and leisure travelers with comfortable, tastefully decorated surroundings, thoughtful amenities and appealing restaurants. The Honorable Tom Murphy, Mayor of Pittsburgh, said: It is with great pride that the City of Pittsburgh congratulates Sage Hospitality on this prestigious award. Through each step of the process of making the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel a reality, Sage Hospitality has been a valued partner. It is truly gratifying to see their efforts rewarded as the recipients of the Hotel of the Year Award for Renaissance. To become Hotel of the Year, Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel scored consistently high satisfaction scores with both guests and hotel associates. Guests gave high marks for overall quality and value, designer decor and attentive service. Associates evaluated the hotel as a workplace. Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel embodies the sophisticated style the Renaissance brand is renowned for the world over, says General Manager Barbara McMahon. Were pleased that our guests and associates both recognize Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotels appeal. Providing a stimulating, pleasant and professional work experience for our associates is just as important as the quality service and surroundings we provide our guests. The hotel was designed and decorated to enhance the turn-of-the-century grandeur envisioned by original architect Grosvenor Atterbury when the building was commissioned by Pittsburgh notable Henry Phipps. Marble and mosaic tile in the striking lobby rotunda underwent painstaking restoration, as did the signature U-shaped copper and granite facade. The decor reflects regional charm, from the pen-and-ink drawings of Pittsburgh landmarks in each room to photographs of local bridges in The Bridge bar. Upscale Opus restaurant, serving Mediterranean-style cuisine, and Prelude wine bar have received critical acclaim for outstanding food and libations. And despite the old-world charm, the hotel supplies guests with thoroughly modern amenities, such as in-room Internet access, a Business Center and Fitness Center.
