Hilton International Grand Vacations Company Opens
First Time Ownership Project in Red Sea Resort of
Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt
Watford, UK - 28 June 2002 - Hilton International Grand Vacations Company (HIGVC) has announced the opening of the companys first time ownership project in Egypt The Hilton Sharm Dreams Vacation Club, in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh.

The development comprises a total of 95 villas in a secluded setting around a landscaped lagoon pool with swim-up bar.  The villa types comprise one, two and three bedroom units, sleeping up to eight guests, and each is fully self-contained with a kitchenette area, and private terrace or balcony.

The significance of the development was emphasised by Anthony Harris, Chief Executive of Hilton International.  The resorts of Egypts Sinai Peninsula are now recognised as world class vacation destinations.  Hilton has 15 hotels with over 4,000 rooms in Egypt, and the development of time ownership accommodation complements perfectly the existing hotel infrastructure, he remarked.

The branding of the resort under the Hilton flag is viewed as an important  dimension to the project, both by Hilton and by the owning company (Sharm Dreams Co. for Touristic Development S.A.E.), which has invested US$15m in the development.  HIGVC General Manager Richard McIntosh emphasised the significance of the license agreement which has been signed by the two parties.  It means that a resort can realise all the benefits of operating under a leading international brand, and in a competitive market that can be of immense importance.  It also provides reassurance and generates confidence for the customer, not least through product enhancements such as the Hilton HHonors® guest reward programme

Hilton are confident that the structure which has been developed for the Hilton Sharm Dreams Vacation Club project can now be introduced at additional locations.  With the pace of development in vacation ownership, we are keen to research and identify new locations where we can work in partnership with resort developers, to the benefit of both organisations, Richard McIntosh remarked.

Ownership prices start at $7,000 (in
