Jean-Paul Viguier Designed Sofitel Chicago Water Tower
Set to Open in June 2002

New York April 2002 - Paris-based Accor hotels, one of the worlds largest hotel companies, has announced that it will open the luxury Sofitel Chicago Water Tower in June 2002.

Sofitel Chicago Water Tower, located on a prime site at the intersection of Chestnut and Wabash streets, is one block west of the Magnificent Mile, and is in close proximity to world-class shopping on North Michigan Avenue and the John Hancock Center, one of the worlds tallest buildings.

Award-winning Paris-based architect Jean-Paul Viguier has designed the 32-story hotel in a stunning conical shape, which rises up majestically and offers a striking addition to the architectural composition of the city. Due to its corner position, the hotel will feature two prominent facades with exposures facing east and southwest allowing for substantial natural light to reach the interior. We are very excited about this property as it is one of Sofitels most architecturally unique projects, said Agnes Bourguignon, Marketing Managing Director.

Internationally renowned designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, responsible for the new Sofitel New Yorks luxurious interior, once again lends his expertise to create a modern French design throughout the hotel.  The Sofitel Chicago Water Tower will boast 415 elegantly appointed guest rooms including 63 suites, each with a view of the city skyline or Lake Michigan.  Rooms will feature three two-line phones with voice mail, a dedicated data line, high-speed internet access and Web-TV.

Catering to large social gatherings as well as small to medium size meetings, the hotels facilities will include a grand ballroom offering 4,500 square feet to accommodate 330 people. In addition, 12 meeting rooms, with a combined total of over 10,000 square feet, will accommodate between 12 and 40 people in each room.

In line with Sofitels commitment to contemporary cuisine, Café des Architectes, will serve modern French cuisine while Cigale, the hotels Mediterranean restaurant will offer guests upscale dining in luxurious surroundings and Chicagos trendy bar scene will welcome Le Bar as a chic meeting place for a drink after work.   In addition, the hotel will add traditional French touches with fresh bread and croissants baked daily on premises.

Other guest services include a fitness center and Le Petit Bijou gift boutique.

Sofitel Chicago Water Tower will complement an existing portfolio of eight Sofitel hotels in North America including New York, Philadelphia, Chicago (airport), Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco Bay, Houston and Minneapolis. The new hotel will be closely followed by two other openings in North America the Sofitel Lafayette Square, Washington D.C. in June 2002 and Sofitel Montreal later this summer. In addition, as part of an international development program for Accors upper upscale brand, these hotels will be 3 of 13 new Sofitel properties opening in 2002 in cities such as London, Marrakech, Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Marseilles, Lyon, Cologne, Venezia, Budapest, and Shanghai.

Sofitel is the prestige brand of Accor hotels, with over 150 properties that bring a unique French art of living to prime locations around the world.
