Resort a More Diverse Market |
Village of Pinehurst, NC – March 27, 2002 – Pinehurst
has reached another landmark in its history with the opening of The Spa
at Pinehurst.
“This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Pinehurst’s history,” said Corso, also President of The Pinehurst Company. “When people think about Pinehurst, they likely think ‘golf,’ and with good reason. We offer one of the truly classic golf experiences in the whole world. But before golf took center stage at Pinehurst, our resort was founded as a healing sanctuary, and in many ways this spa represents and honors that vision.” The Spa at Pinehurst features 28 private treatment rooms for massage, facials and body treatments; a 3-lane lap pool; a full-service salon and image center for hair, scalp and nail treatments; a 1,300 square-foot state-of-the-art fitness center; men’s and women’s locker rooms with whirlpool, steam and sauna; and an expertly trained staff to guide guests through days of luxury and relaxation. “In addition to honoring our important historical legacy, we feel that The Spa at Pinehurst will open up the magic of our resort to a larger and more diverse audience than ever before,” Corso said. “This includes golfers and non-golfers alike. It includes both men and women. The addition of The Spa further rounds out our resort experience and provides a dimension to Pinehurst that we have never had before.” The Spa at Pinehurst was carefully designed by a diverse team of experts to ensure that the overall experience reflects the true spirit of Pinehurst. This team, headed by Pinehurst Project Manager Francis Chester, also included Spa Director Kim Parker, Architects Jung | Brannen Associates, Design Architects Rau and Associates, Landscaping Design by The Hayter Firm, Civil Engineering by Hobbs, Upchurch and Associates, Construction Contractors Choate Construction Company and Spa Consultants Health Fitness Dynamics. “When you look at The Spa, you see immediately the great effort that was put forth to make sure the building fits seamlessly with the physical landscape for which we are known,” Corso said. “In the same way, when you enter the building and experience The Spa’s soothing pleasures, you discover that the facility fits our psychological landscape as well. The result is a facility that seems as if it was woven into the fabric of our resort even before the first shovel hit the ground.” In addition to maintaining this sense of integrity, the team was able to bring the project from vision to reality while remaining both on schedule and under budget, according to Pinehurst officials. The Spa at Pinehurst incorporates the resort’s trademark personal service through specially designed “Spa Suites.” Perfect for couples and able to accommodate groups up to four, these private havens combine personal treatment rooms with an intimate lounge where guests can relax between treatments. The Spa at Pinehurst offers a wide variety of treatments and services all designed to capture the classic personality and spirit of the North Carolina resort. Guests can choose from a variety of options, including body therapies, skin care therapies, hydrotherapies, nail and hair therapies, massage therapies as well as exercise and golf conditioning. Each treatment and product has been carefully created or chosen to reflect the region’s abundant natural offerings, with highlights including pine and magnolia-themed aromatherapy options, clay wraps from nearby Seagrove, N.C., sand exfoliation treatments, and more. Pinehurst is part of the unique collection of
luxury golf destinations that make up The Pinehurst Company, a wholly owned
subsidiary of ClubCorp. The Pinehurst Company’s resort division includes
Pinehurst, located in the Village of Pinehurst, N.C.; The Homestead, Hot
Springs, Va.; Barton Creek, Austin, Tex. and Palmilla, Los Cabos, Mexico.
