Results for First Quarter 2002 |
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (April 2002) The first three months of 2002 were
the best ever for a traditionally slow quarter at Ashevilles historic
Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa: The resort broke records for occupancy,
average daily rate, REVPAR (revenue per available room) and gross operating
profit. The resorts previous best first quarter was in 1998.
Comparing the first quarters of 2002 and 1998:
Grove Park Inn Resort Director of Marketing Jay Boyd attributed the record quarterly results to the success of first quarter activities and events, extensive guest room and public area renovations, and the addition to the resorts Spa, which opened at the end of February 2001. The popularity of our 2002 winter events, coupled with the cumulative effect of our recent property improvements was key. We expanded our Sports Complex and built our Spa in hopes that they would jump-start our year; it appears our hopes have been realized in spectacular fashion, Boyd said. In addition, our focus on guest service has paid off in the highest guest satisfaction levels ever. USA Today rated the 40,000 square-foot, $40 million Spa at The Grove Park Inn Resort one of the worlds top ten spas in November 2001. Annual winter weekend events at The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa include The Best of Our State, The Paranormal Conference, Big Band, All That Jazz, The Arts & Crafts Conference, Heritage DanceSport Competition and Comedy Classic. |
