March 5, 2002, Farmington, Pa. -- Nemacolin Woodlands is
reporting record business for the final quarter of 2001 and the first
quarter of 2002. The four-season resort, located in the Laurel
Highlands of western Pennsylvania, is just a days drive for 60% of U.S.
population.
With the fear of flying still on the minds of many, travelers are vacationing
closer to home. The resorts guests are generally coming from Pennsylvania,
Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and D.C.
After the tragic events of Sept. 11, Nemacolin Woodlands experienced
a low percentage of occupancy for about two weeks, explained Ron Cadrette,
the resorts general manager. However in the latter part of September,
our call volume in reservations increased by about 50% in comparison to
the same dates in 2000. The call volume continues to be higher than the
same month of the previous year.
As a result, in comparison to the last quarter of 2000, Nemacolin Woodlands
showed a 23% increase in occupied rooms in the last quarter of 2001 and
a 17.4% increase in overall revenue.
In the first two months of 2002, occupied rooms rose by 4% and overall
revenue has increased by 11% over 2001.
Bookings at the resorts Woodlands Spa are consistent with the increase
in bookings reported by other spas located within driving distance of major
metropolitan areas. In the final quarter of 2001, Woodlands Spa revenues
increased by 15% compared to the last quarter of 2000. Reported revenues
for the first two months of 2002 show an increase of 19% over the same
period in 2001.
Woodlands Spa provides a place of peace and solace for those who are
seeking a place to get away from it all and just get their minds off of
our countrys recent tragedies. Our calming treatments and soothing atmosphere
heals and alleviates the stress that everyone has been feeling over the
past months, says Kaite Hurley-Laguna, spa director.
According to projections and forecasts, Nemacolin Woodlands is anticipating
another success year in 2002. Our aggressive sales efforts and our location
has have been instrumental in exceeding our goals in spite of a downward
economic trend. In 2002, initial numbers on definite business look
extremely promising, added Cadrette. |
