MEMPHIS, Tenn., March 13, 2002 � Hampton®, the national brand
of mid-priced Hampton Inn® and Hampton Inn & Suites® hotels,
today announced that it opened 11 Hampton Inn and Hampton Inn & Suites
hotels during January and February of 2002, including two international
properties. The 11 hotels add a total of 1,064 new rooms to the brand�s
systemwide total of 118,870 rooms. The new openings comprise seven
Hampton Inn hotels and four Hampton Inn & Suites hotels.
�The Hampton brand continues to experience a warm and growing reception in the Western United States, as is evidenced by the openings of hotels in this region every month,� said Phil Cordell, senior vice-president, brand management, Hampton. �With a healthy pipeline in reserve, we remain on track for the number of Hampton hotel openings to represent about half the expected openings in the Hilton Family of Hotels in 2002, with the new Hampton Inn & Suites prototype accounting for a majority of new approvals among the Hampton brand.� The Hampton Inn hotel brand leads the development growth pipeline for the entire Hilton Family of Hotels, which anticipates opening 130 � 160 hotels in 2002.
