The assembled crowd of both Ashland and Medford chambers, dignitaries and community members watched as the building�s highest point was hoisted into place at 9:45 AM.  On top of the structure was an Oregon grown Douglas Fir seedling, as well as an American and Plaza Inn & Suites flag, that was lifted by a 100 foot crane to adorn the building's highest elevation. This good luck ceremony symbolizes the successful completion of the hotel's exterior frame.  

Immediately following the ceremony, guests were given a tour of the building. 

Welcoming and congratulation speeches for the new boutique hotel were delivered by Mayor Alan DeBoer and Sandra Slattery, the Executive Director of the Ashland Chamber of Commerce.  Doug Dreher, Executive Vice President of Operations for The Hotel Group, presented a vision for the future of the hotel and announced the new General Manager for the Plaza Inn & Suites, Saundra McLean.
