GRENADA (Jan. 10, 2002) � In keeping with its high service standards,
Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada has announced four new appointments
at the luxury 66-room property.
Brian Hardy has been promoted from Assistant Manager of Spice
Island Beach Resort (a position he held for two years) to Resort Manager.
He will oversee the day-to-day operations of the property as well as be
responsible
for managing a staff of 125 people, ensuring total guest satisfaction,
and helping build a strong repeat client base.
Before joining the team at Spice, Hardy was Executive Assistant Manager
at Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort in St. Lucia and Personnel and
Training Manager of the Rex Grenadian in Grenada.
Hardy brings extensive training in human resource development and expertise
in hotel management to his new position at Spice. In addition to
holding a Bachelor of Arts degree, Hardy has a diploma in Hospitality Management
and is a Certified Food & Beverage Executive and a Certified Human
Resources Executive. He has also completed the advanced program in
Human Resources Management at the University of California, Los Angeles,
as well as the Human Resources Management curriculum at the University
of the West Indies.
Sheldon Keens-Douglas has been named Assistant Manager at Spice
Island Beach Resort (joining fellow Assistant Manager Nerissa Hopkin).
Prior to Spice, Keens-Douglas was the Assistant Manager at the Four Seasons
Nevis for the last three years. He holds a degree in Hospitality
Management from Cornell University�s School of Hotel Administration and
is a recipient of the Caribbean Tourism Organization�s Audrey Palmer Hawks
Scholarship.
Spice Island Beach Resort has enhanced its food and beverage department
with the appointment of Michael Carroll as the new Executive Chef
who will be in charge of the property�s menus, cooking style and flavors.
Fourteen years of Carroll�s 23-year career have been spent at the Executive
Head Chef level. His impressive credentials include having worked
for Fortes, De Veres, Paul Bocuse, Private Clubs and Swallows Hotels.
Highlights of Chef Carroll�s career include hosting two British Government
party conferences at the Highcliff Hotel in Bournemouth as well as membership
in the Van Den Berg Craft Guild for Food Development in the U.K.
Further complementing the management team is Helen Bhola who
has been promoted from Food & Beverage Supervisor (a title she held
for eight years) to Administrative Assistant. Bhola has a diploma
in Hotel Catering Operations from the Bahamas Hotel College and is an honors
graduate of George Brown College with a diploma in Food and Beverage Management.
