The Emily Morgan Hotel
The Historic Emily Morgan Hotel has long been one of San Antonio's best kept secret among those who know the city well.

Built in the 1920's, the hotel is named for the heroine of the fight for Texas Independence who is immortalized in song and legend as "The Yellow Rose of Texas," and one of San Antonio's landmark architectural treasures.

Ramesdale, vice president of operations for Westmont Hospitality, which manages the hotel.  "With Scooter at the helm, we can count on the Emily Morgan becoming a full-service hotel without equal in San Antonio, with the charm, elegance and personalized service of a small boutique."

Yates has more than 15 years of management experience in the hotel industry.  Most recently, he served as general manager at the historic Marcus Whitman Hotel & Conference Center in Walla Walla, Wash., where he directed a $30 million renovation.  Prior to that position, Yates was managing director of the Melrose Hotel in Dallas for nine years, where he transitioned the historic property from two to four stars and managed two extensive renovations.  Yates boasts many industry awards -- under his leadership, the Melrose Hotel was named "Best Hotel in America" by Zagat in 1998.

"Guests who come to the Emily Morgan Hotel will have an experience like no other in Texas," said Yates.  "My vision for this hotel is to turn it into a design boutique with a modern feel that still retains that element of Southern charm so special to visitors, especially in a city like San Antonio.  It will be Hill Country chic at its finest."

A San Antonio landmark, the Emily Morgan Hotel is nestled next to the Alamo in the heart of the city's historic district and features 177 luxurious guest rooms and 24 suites.  The Emily Morgan is owned by Alamo Hotels Inc., and managed by Westmont Hospitality, which manages over 400 hotels worldwide with offices in Houston, Toronto, London, Paris and Tokyo.  The Emily Morgan Hotel is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
