Douglas and Christine Ziegler Open a 14-room 
Luxury Inn in Santa Ynez, California

Santa Ynez, California -- October 17, 2001 - The Santa Ynez Inn-the first new hotel built in Santa Barbara County's wine country since 1985 - celebrated its grand opening on October 1, 2001. Douglas and Christine Ziegler, Principals of Z Bar, Inc., are the local owners of the 14-room luxury property located at 3627 Sagunto Street. They were joined by 300 members of the public, dignitaries and hospitality industry at the formal ribbon cutting ceremony followed by complimentary refreshments and guided Inn tours throughout the afternoon.
 
Ms. Barbara Davidge, president of the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Society, served as the official ribbon cutter and remarked that "The Santa Ynez Inn is the first to offer lodging in our town since the College Hotel burned down in 1935. We sincerely welcome the Ziegler family and this beautiful new addition to our Valley." Mr. Ziegler dedicated the Inn's opening to "all those who had lost their freedom on September 1."

General Manager of the Inn is 30-year hospitality industry veteran John Martino with a staff of 15 including Assistant General Manager Denise LeBlanc and Executive Chef Johanna Trujillo. The architect for the Santa Ynez Inn is F.  Evans Jones, AIA, of Los Olivos. The General Contractor is

The Inn is owned by Z Bar, Inc., whose principals include Douglas and Christine Ziegler, native Californians and Santa 
Ynez Valley residents since 1995. The 
Inn�s General Manager is John Martino, 
a 30-year hospitality industry professional 
who has lived and worked in the Santa 
Ynez Valley since 1980.
Coastal Builders of Santa Ynez with Jim Quick serving as on-site Project Manager. Carol Puck Erickson of Los Olivos is the landscape architect. Interior decor was selected by Mrs. Ziegler along with Christina Papalexis of Santa Ynez and Maraya Droney, ASID. 

The two-story 14,000 square-foot Victorian-style building highlights 19th century architecture with 21st century amenities. Fourteen individually decorated guest rooms have unique antiques and furnishings, queen or king-sized beds, luxury Frette linens, thermostatically controlled heat and air-conditioning, color TV with DVD/CD entertainment system, two telephones with voicemail and dataport, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, illuminated mirror, bathrobes and slippers. Most rooms have a balcony or patio, gas fireplace, double steam shower and whirlpool tub. 

The Santa Ynez Inn features a fitness facility with sauna, Parlor and Library meeting rooms, full service kitchen catering facilities, outdoor heated whirlpool and sundeck, as well as extensive gardens. Rates include afternoon tea, evening wine & hors d'oeuvres and a full gourmet breakfast.
