Historic Sherry-Netherland Hotel Gains
Membership in Small Luxury Hotels Consortium
LONDON, Oct. 15 - Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has announced the addition of the luxury consortium's newest North American member, The Sherry-Netherland.

Located on New York's Upper East Side, The Sherry-Netherland offers a magical combination of romance, exquisite architecture and unparalleled service.  The hotel's prime location, within walking distance to New York's world famous Fifth Avenue shops, Central Park, museums and the Theatre District, also adds to its attraction.

Little of the building's architecture has changed since the Sherry-Netherland opened its doors in 1927. The canopy entrance, adorned with the hotel's famous landmark clock and three Italianate lanterns, is guarded by gargoyles on the 37-story Baroque tower.  The recently restored vaulted lobby was modeled after the Vatican library.  Striking features include sculptured panels from the Vanderbilt Mansion, Louis XV chairs, lavish chandeliers and elaborately designed marble floors with French carpets.

The 150-room Sherry-Netherland offers spacious guest rooms and continental breakfast for two in nearby world-renowned Harry Cipriani Restaurant.  Each guest room and suite is uniquely furnished with many of the suites featuring decorative fireplaces, views of Central Park and marble bathrooms.  A fitness center, video and book library and meeting and banquet rooms are also available to guests of the hotel.

Lee Ann Gamble, Regional Manager of the Americas for SLH, states, "The elegant architectural style of Sherry-Netherland's façade reflects the distinctive charm and ambiance of its interior.  This hotel's historic and luxurious presence among the landmark institutions in New York City perfectly complements our consortium."

Small Luxury Hotels of the World is a consortium of 270 quality hotels in more than 50 countries.  Member hotels are selected for level of service provided and attention to personal detail.
