Says Alfredo Rosas, Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board, "Many Los Cabos resorts utilize energy plants, private generators, water treatment plants and seawater desalination plants.  These utilities, combined with energetic hotel staffs who are greatly enjoying Los Cabos' distinction as Mexico's fastest growing tourist destination, have enabled the area to quickly recover from the heavy rains and winds brought about by Hurricane Juliette last weekend.  The airport is now open and all airlines have resumed service.  The road from the airport to San Lucas is open to traffic. Electricity is fully restored and banks have reopened.  Telephone service remains limited, though it is only a matter of time until repair units complete their work.  Because the storm blew down towers, however, there is no cell phone service at this time.  Service restoration is expected within a week."

Hotel damage is minimal and aside from the Cabo San Lucas Country Club temporary closure there was no significant damage to golf courses.  The Cabo San Lucas Country Club facilities will be closed through December.  Fishing fleets are operational and fishing results are excellent, as they will continue to be with the recently churned waters.  As seawater settles, the area's renowned clarity will return.  Scuba shops and boats are all fine and operational as well, and diving is perfectly safe while visibility is improving every day.

The majority of the destination's hotels are also fully operational, with many sustaining only cosmetic damage from the storm.  Most are open and receiving guests while a few have temporarily closed during repairs.  Individual hotels can be contacted for additional information.

At the point of the peninsula in Cabo San Lucas, many of the beachfront restaurants suffered some of the area's more serious damage and are currently under repair.  Re-openings are estimated within one to two months.
