 The Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver Trains 20 Staff as "Cyber Butlers" 
To Coincide with Installation High Speed Internet Access

November 15, 2001 - The Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver announces the installation of high-speed Internet access in their newly modified "e-Rooms" which include all 504 guest rooms and meeting rooms. In addition, the hotel is complementing this new amenity with the added service benefits of on site 'Cyber Butlers' who are on hand to assist guests with all their technology needs. The Cyber Butlers, or e-Room specialists, are drawn from all hotel departments and are available to assist guests with Internet connectivity 24 hours a day. Halliday continues, "We have educated over twenty associates with the sole purpose of being there when our guests need information and assistance in accessing the World Wide Web. We do not want any guest to be waiting, as speed and efficiency are so important in any guest's stay." One of the key features of The Pan Pacific's "e-Rooms" is the revolutionary "Plug-n-Play" pod which is positioned on each desktop to provide easy accessibility - no more scrambling for dataport outlets normally hidden under desks. Designed by the guest services team, this sophisticated tool was created to facilitate the utmost in guest convenience. 

The hotel's high speed Internet access was made possible through an agreement with DishnetDSL Ltd. DishnetDSL Ltd., along with its partners Sumitomo Electric and Cisco Systems, provide a completely integrated approach to high-speed Internet access with essential Plug and Play system features.  Group Telecom, a Local Exchange Carrier, provided the Cisco Powered Network. Group Telecom has provided DishnetDSL Ltd. with the GT Net CONNECT 10 Mbps, Commercial Internet Service. This cost-effective service is delivered over Group Telecom's self-healing fibre backbone with multi-homed access to the Internet.
