Dubai, November 2001: Prestigious hotel group, Jumeirah International, has confirmed that it will be taking over the management of two of Londons most prestigious hotels The Carlton Tower, and The Lowndes, both situated in the heart of Knightsbridge from Hyatt International.

Jumeirah International is well-known for its high profile properties in Dubai and its commitment to quality and service.  Its Dubai properties include The Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Emirates Towers and Burj Al Arab, all of which have grown to be global icons, reflecting the highest possible standards of service and hospitality.  Jumeirah Internationals properties are regarded as among the most luxurious and innovative in the world, and have won numerous travel awards.  The addition of these London hotels represents Jumeirah Internationals first move outside Dubai.

The new General Manager of The Carlton Tower, which includes Montes private club where Jamie Oliver is the consultant chef, will be Andrew Abram, who has worked with Jumeirah International for four years. An extensive refurbishment programme for The Carlton Tower has been committed and has commenced with the refurbishment of the Chinoiserie Lobby Lounge, which will be completed by December 2001.

Commenting on the new management, Mr Gerald Lawless, Managing Director of Jumeirah International said: We are delighted to be entrusted with the running of The Carlton Tower and The Lowndes, both world class hotels, which will be a welcome addition to our current portfolio.  Jumeirah International prides itself on its unparalleled standards of service, and its commitment to staff training it is significant that both of these London hotels are already highly regarded in these areas, and so are a natural fit with our properties in Dubai.

The Jumeirah International Group was established in 2000 to encompass five world-class hotels, the Middle Easts first fully themed water park, Wild Wadi and The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management. The companys latest announcement is the unique resort development Madinat Jumeirah, which was announced during the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai in May 2001. The first phase is scheduled to open mid 2003.
