Cendant's Nine Lodging Brands Will be Organized Under the
Leadership of Joe Kane and Bob Weller

PARSIPPANY, N.J. (Nov. 2, 2001) Cendant Corporations Hotel Division today announced it has begun a reorganization designed to position the worlds largest lodging franchisor even more firmly as the service leader in the hotel industry.

Stephen P. Holmes, chairman & chief executive officer of Cendants Hospitality Division, which encompasses the Hotel Division, the companys timeshare exchange as well as vacation ownership sales and marketing and the European cottage rental businesses, said the Hotel Division will be reorganized under six key areas of accountability.

Franchise Sales will be led by John Osborne, Hospitality Division chief sales & development officer, and Tom Bernardo, Hotel Division executive vice president, franchise sales & development.

The divisions nine lodging brands will be organized under the leadership of two executives, while keeping the individual identities and distinctness of each brand.  Joe Kane, president & chief executive officer of Days Inns Worldwide, has been named group president & chief executive officer to oversee the Days Inn, Ramada, Howard Johnson and Travelodge brands.

Bob Weller, president & chief executive officer of Super 8 Motels Inc., has been named group president & chief executive officer to oversee the Super 8, Wingate Inn, AmeriHost Inn, Knights Inn and Villager brands.

Doug Patterson, Cendant executive vice president, was named Hotel Division chief operating officer and will lead a newly christened Support Services Team that will include the Marketing Services, Franchise Services, Property Services and Franchise Administration Services departments.

Ken Greene, who was named the divisions chief financial officer in June, will oversee a group consisting of Hotel Division finance, the Hotel Information Technology group, business development finance, a newly renamed International Services department and Human Resources.

Joel Buckberg, who has served as the companys executive vice president & deputy general counsel since April 2000, will continue to oversee the companys legal groups that support the Hotel Division.

The mantra for this new organization is service, Holmes said. It will be designed to enhance our focus on providing the type of high-quality, world-class service that has been our model from day one. We are aiming to encourage individual initiative and creativity while minimizing duplication of effort.

The reorganization was spurred, in part, by the downturn in the travel industry that began late last year and was accelerated by the events of Sept. 11, he said, adding that the new organization will be implemented over the coming weeks.

The Hotel Division of Cendant Corporation (NYSE: CD), based in Parsippany, N.J., is the worlds largest lodging franchisor with 6,603 open hotels representing 553,190 rooms on five continents under the Super 8®, Days Inn®, Ramada®, Travelodge®, Howard Johnson®, Knights Inn®, Villager, Wingate Inn® and AmeriHost Inn® brands. All hotels are individually owned and operated.
