Appoints Benchmark as Manager |
THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS, December 14, 2001�Benchmark Hospitality has announced
that it has been selected to manage the exclusive Glade Springs Resort,
located in Beckley, West Virginia. Burt Cabañas, chairman and chief
executive officer, made the announcement and warmly welcomed the Glade
Springs staff into the Benchmark family. Benchmark began managing the property
on Monday, December 3, 2001.

Springs is a gated estate-like resort located in southern West Virginia.
The resort is situated on 4,100 acres dotted with lakes and streams in
the tranquil foothills of the Appalachians. The newly renovated property
offers 154 guestrooms with 69 additional rooms planned. Guestrooms
include spacious Presidential Suites; Manor House Suites featuring two
levels, living room with fireplace, dining room and a full kitchen; the
Chestnut Hill Lodges also featuring a living room with fireplace, kitchen
and porch; as well as the Oak Lane Villas with sweeping views of the golf
course.
The resort offers two restaurants, including the signature "Roberts" which features world-class cuisine, and The Cafe, which serves casual American fare. A cocktail lounge is also available. The property has 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including 20 conference rooms with two ballrooms accommodating up to 400 guests, as well as substantial exhibition space. Glade Springs features championship golf, including the renowned 18-hole George W. Cobb Course (a Top West Virginia Course, Golf Week, Golf Digest) with a second 18-hole course scheduled to open in 2003. Other recreational amenities are an Olympic-size outdoor pool, whirlpool, saunas, indoor and outdoor tennis, steam rooms, fitness facilities with Nautilus equipment, a basketball court, and a full-service spa. For the adventurer, Glade Springs Resort offers whitewater rafting, fly-fishing, casting classes, and sporting clays through an exclusive relationship with a local outdoor adventure outfitter. Other resort activities include an equestrian center, miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking, and nearby snow skiing. Several of these activities can be utilized for effective group teambuilding programs. Glade Springs Resort is owned by Bright Enterprises, of Summersville, West Virginia.
