WASHINGTON, August 13, 2001 - The American Hotel
& Lodging Foundation (AH&LF) has awarded $24,000 in scholarships
to 14 students from the Ecolab Academic Scholarship Program.
AH&LF administers the annual scholarship competition funded by Ecolab.
The scholarship recipients are selected based upon academic performance,
hospitality work experience, a personal essay, and financial need. This
year, 100 students applied for the scholarship.
The recipients of the 2001 Ecolab scholarships are:

On receiving news of his scholarship award, Bryan Catherman, a student
at College of Southern Idaho, said, �Thank you so much for supporting my
educational trek. Without organizations such as the American Hotel
& Lodging Foundation and Ecolab, many students like myself would not
have the opportunity to excel in their fields of interest. Thank
you again for your generosity.�

Ecolab is in its fifth year of supporting AH&LF scholarship programs.
In addition to providing funding for academic hospitality scholarships,
Ecolab also supports professional certification scholarships administered

Ecolab Scholarship Program
The Ecolab Scholarship Program offers two types of scholarships:
academic and certification through the Educational Institute (EI) of AH&MA.
Academic Scholarships: Applicants must be enrolled or
intend to enroll full-time (at least 12 hours) in a U.S. baccalaureate
or associate hospitality degree-granting program for both the upcoming
fall and spring semesters. Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,000
each. The applicant�s school does not have to be affiliated with AHF.
Certification Scholarships: Applicants must be hospitality
professionals working at an AH&MA member property a minimum of 35 hours
per week and qualify for the certification program. The scholarship includes
the cost of the certification study guide, examination fee, and certification
fee for the following professional designations: - Certified Hotel Administrator
- Certified Lodging Manager - Certified Engineering Operations Executive
- Certified Hospitality Housekeeping Executive. |
