Waterford Hotel Group Inc. Creates New Subsidiary Focusing on Management of Convention Center Facilities

May 3--WATERFORD, Conn.--Waterford Hotel Group Inc. has created a new subsidiary: Waterford Management. 

Terrence Bickhardt has been named president of the newly created division, which will oversee all operations of convention center facilities under management by the group. 

A national hotel management firm, Waterford Hotel currently operates 26 hotel properties in 11 states. As president of Waterford Management, Bickhardt will oversee the pre-opening, marketing, day-to-day operations and management of convention centers. 

The announcement was made Wednesday by Waterford Hotel's president and chief operating officer, Robert Winchester. 

In addition to the company's current properties, the Connecticut Convention Center is under development. Owned by Capital City Economic Development Authority and managed by Waterford Management, the Connecticut Convention Center is part of Adriaen's Landing development in Hartford. 

Another new property will be the adjacent 425-room Hartford Marriott, which will be operated by Waterford Hotel Group. 

Adriaen's Landing is a $775-million mixed-use development which is planned to revitalize downtown Hartford. Other components include residential housing, entertainment, and restaurant and retail venues. 

Bickhardt is also vice president of acquisitions and transitions for Waterford Hotel Group. He is responsible for the oversight of new property development from the signing of management contracts to hotel openings. 

In this role, Bickhardt implements all hotel operating programs, ensures maximum franchise support, and serves as a liaison between Waterford Hotel Group and hotel ownership. 

Since joining the organization in 1987, Bickhardt has served in numerous roles including general manager, controller and vice president of operations and sales and marketing. 

Bickhardt has a bachelor of science degree from West Virginia University and a food and beverage certificate from the Lausanne Ecole Hotelierre in Switzerland.
