SEDONA, Ariz. - May 15, 2001-- Sedona Resort Management (SRM) announced their recent acquisition of The Tides -- including The Tides Inn, The Tides Lodge and Golden Eagle Golf Course -- a 50-year-old, family-owned and operated resort property in Irvington, Va., located on two lush peninsulas overlooking the mouth of the Rappahannock River and The Chesapeake Bay.

The 2001 Zagat Survey of Top U.S. Hotels, Resorts & Spas, praises The Tides as "laid-back," with "an ambiance of yesteryear," imbuing the waterside resort as a "golfing paradise" that's "great for boaters" with a "lovely setting in the middle of nowhere" that attracts "the Washington power set at play." SRM plans to continue the tradition in a respectful manner.

George Lidicker, president of the Sedona-based hotel management & development company, said, "Our objective is to restore The Tides as one of the finest resorts on the East Coast and to reposition the property as a top destination resort in the United States. The property has many fine inherent attributes -- a waterfront location with views from almost every guest room, on-site marina and boating program featuring the historic 127-foot yacht 'Miss Ann,' one of Virginia's best golf courses, a loyal staff, local repeat clientele, and easy access from major East Coast markets such as Washington D.C., Richmond and Norfolk. Our long-range plans will enhance and refurbish this classic property while continuing its history as a high-quality, independently-run destination."

Plans include renovation of guest rooms and public areas of The Tides Inn, improvements to the Golden Eagle golf course and clubhouse, expansion of conference facilities and The Tides' spa. Refurbishment will be done in phases with the bulk of the work done this off-season (November to April) and the resort will remain open during its regular season thereafter.

SRM and its principals have a long history of successfully managing and repositioning environmentally sensitive and culturally attuned properties in the United States. Prior to forming SRM in 1992, Lidicker was responsible for opening or repositioning 23 major projects in environmentally pristine areas. Amongst them are the award-winning Lodge at Koele and Manele Bay Hotel both on the island of Lana'i, formerly Hawaii's pineapple island. Prior to opening the Lana'i properties, Lidicker directed the unveiling of prestigious properties such as the Kapalua Bay Hotel on Maui and the S.S. Norway. The Tides Initiates
New Growth Opportunities Resort to Partner with Management Group

Irvington, Va. (Feb. 20, 2001) - The Tides Resort, one of the country's premier resorts, has partnered with Sedona Resort Management, a renowned management firm. The partnership was created to bring The Tides to the next level of leisure and customer service.

The Tides located in Irvington, Virginia, selected Sedona Resort Management (SRM), a highly respected small resort management company of Sedona, Arizona to take over operations. The Tides has been run by the Stephens family for more than 50 years.

We asked our peers throughout the resort industry what firm could best manage a small destination like The Tides, says Lee Stephens, president of The Tides. From Arizona to Vermont, the answer was Sedona Resort Management.

The Stephens family worked with Ewing Monroe Bemiss & Co. of Richmond to interview more than two dozen candidate companies.  They chose SRM because it best met the criteria of the Stephens family.

Says Stephens, From the start of our quest in October, we wanted to partner with a firm that would respect the more than 50 years of Tides tradition while having the marketing and financial savvy to take The Tides through the 21st Century.

Early this fall, The Tides made the decision to partner with a management firm, recognizing that they lacked the means to grow the resort the way they would like. SRM's primary responsibilities will be to continue to build on the excellent service that has become synonymous with The Tides while streamlining operations and planning for a much-needed capital improvement and expansion program.

destination spa, entities that are legendary for their respect for land conservation and the perpetuation of the Native American culture.

"Sedona Resort Management and its investment group are committed to owning and operating a collection of premier quality, independent, destination resorts, each having a unique personality reflective of its geographic location," says Lidicker.

The Tides Inn joins Enchantment Resort (Sedona); Mii amo, a destination spa at Enchantment (Sedona); and Cedar Breaks Lodge (Utah) as SRM's fourth property.
