Chao "Robert" Zheng Promoted to WATG's Manager
of Business Development, Greater China

HONOLULU - 14 Jun 2001- Chao "Robert" Zheng has been promoted to WATG's Manager of Business Development, Greater China.  The new position was created in response to the emergence of China as a major tourism market and in recognition of Zheng's knowledge of the industry.

"We have valued Robert's contributions to WATG's overall success and especially as it relates to the firm's work in China," states Howard J.  Wolff, Senior Vice President of WATG.  Zheng will continue to work out of WATG's Honolulu office where, for the past five years, he has had responsibility for tracking travel and tourism trends worldwide and analyzing research data in support of the firm's strategic directions.

Robert earned a master's degree from the School of Travel Industry Management (TIM) at the University of Hawaii, and was honored as the "Outstanding Graduate Student" by the College of Business Administration and the TIM School.  Chuck Gee, Dean Emeritus of the TIM school, notes that Zheng is "particularly well qualified by virtue of his bicultural and bilingual fluency in business practices as they apply to the hospitality industry."  Zheng is past president of the Hawaii Mainland China Overseas Association; under his leadership, the Association more than tripled its membership.

Since its founding in 1945, Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG) has become the world's leading design consultant for the hospitality, leisure, and entertainment industries.  The firm's projects-many of them have become international landmarks-can be found in over 100 countries across six continents.

Current WATG projects in Greater China include: Great Wall Nature Resort in Beijing, China; Qiandaohu Resort in Hangzhou, China; Sanya Bayview Cultural Center in Sanya, China; Foresthill Residential Development in Beijing, China; Euro Classic Residential Community in Beijing, China; Hualien Oceanpark Resort Hotel in Hualien, Taiwan; and Great Penghu International Resort in Penghu, Taiwan.
