Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News Jun. 5--A new leader has taken the helm at The Sagamore and another has left the historic hotel and conference center on Lake George. S. Lee Bowden, who for the past 10 years was general manager of The Equinox, a resort in Manchester, Vt., now manages the day-to-day operations at The Sagamore and will oversee the hotel's multimillion-dollar renovation. He began his new duties at the end of May. W. Robert McIntosh, who was managing director of the resort for nine
years and recently served as president of the company that owns the hotel,
has retired.
Before joining the 350-room Sagamore, McIntosh worked for Omni Hotels. The resort, opened in 1883, is currently undergoing a multiyear renovation that will update rooms and redesign the kitchen and other facilities, as well as repair the bridge that connects the island on which the Sagamore sits to the mainland. Bowden oversaw a $14 million upgrade to The Equinox at his previous job. He also has worked at hotels in New York City, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Vermont. -----To see more of the Times Union, or to subscribe to the newspaper, go to http://www.timesunion.com (c) 2001, Times Union, Albany, N.Y.
