The  Wow Factor Applied by Dow Hotel Company to
$3 million Renovation at Radisson Hotel Sacramento

SACRAMENTO April 3, 2001 The Dow Hotel Company and Radisson Hotel Sacramento announced today the finishing of a $3 million renovation that adds amenities and improves ambiance for a growing business clientele in Sacramento.

We enjoyed a tremendous growth in our business, meeting and convention trade, commented Dick Williams, Radisson Hotel Sacramento, General Manager and Vice President of Dow Hotel Company. It was time to take the hotel to the next level. These improvements and additions are a big step.

The Radisson Hotel Sacramento is one of Sacramentos premier hotels with 308 guest rooms, more than 50,000 flexible feet of meeting space, a conference center, board room suites, along with fine dining and entertainment. The hotel hosts many of Sacramentos most notable events and is the only union group and convention hotel in the area.

Dow Hotel Company secured the talents of Jenner Hotel Associates, which also contracted with Meri Meis and Associates, to develop the new designs of the lobby, guestrooms, board rooms and conference rooms. Meri Meis has more than 10 years experience in hospitality design and has gained a national reputation for her work with Hilton, Sheraton and other Radisson properties.

Its a great design, stated Meis. The overall style was developed to complement the hotels Mediterranean/Spanish feel but was applied with contemporary fashion that includes geometric shapes and clean lines. We strived for a more comfortable residential look combined with functional amenities for the business traveler. Its not your traditional hotel room.

To give each room a wow factor, Meis altered the room design by setting beds on an angle to highlight the lake and garden views. She also put headboards behind the bed with lighting to make the room feel more open. Rooms also feature new case and soft goods and oversized desks in a contemporary, Mediterranean style.

Its a thrill to see these rooms come to life, added Meis. We even had custom-made blonde pine armoires built in the same rich Mediterranean style.

All baths were renovated with new tile, wall and window coverings, new lighting, countertops, faucets and mirrors. Some bathrooms were enlarged.

In addition to the rooms, the hotel lobby was renovated in a contemporary Mediterranean style including custom carpet, new seating and new lighting. Board rooms were upgraded with high-back, leather chairs; refinished tables; wet bars with granite countertops; and new sofas and chairs.

We have made some very substantial improvements, commented Williams. Its a very exciting first step with many additional improvements still to come that will surely make Radisson Hotel Sacramento the place to stay and work for business travelers and the convention and meeting trades.

The Radisson Hotel Sacramento has become one of Sacramentos most distinctive hotels because of its unique resort style, close proximity to downtown, large conference and event space and the Grove concerts and special attractions such as annual holiday and community celebrations.

But mostly, the Radisson is a key convention and conference facility for large groups either from the Sacramento area or those coming from outside the community.
We target group sales and its great to bring people to Sacramento, said Donna Johnson, director of sales and marketing. This renovation project makes Radisson Hotel Sacramento that much more attractive for group business. Outside conference and conventions are good for Sacramentos economy.

Radisson Hotel Sacramentos popularity has been enhanced by the service provided by Radissons management and staff, according to Horn. She says repeat convention and conference business is a testament to the quality experience guests enjoy.

The Radisson is planning additional improvements over the next few years. According to Williams, the hospitality market in Sacramento is becoming more competitive. He plans to keep Radisson Hotel Sacramento on top of the hospitality business in the region.

The Radisson Hotel Sacramento is very well known and highly regarded in the local community, concluded Williams. As Sacramento continues to grow and becomes a premier destination, we want to be right on the top of the list for business and personal travel and accommodations.
