the Renaming of its Twelve Regal Hotel Properties to Millennium |
WASHINGTON, April 6, 2001 - Culminating a year-long repositioning, renovation and brand building campaign, Millennium Hotels and Resorts has announced the renaming of its Regal hotel properties to Millennium as of April 9, 2001. Millennium Hotels and Resorts, which acquired Regal in 1999, is the North American unit of London-based Millennium and Copthorne Hotels plc, one of the top 15 hotel companies in the world. As of April 9, Millennium Hotels and Resorts include:
One centerpiece of Millenniums renovation program is the conversion of guestrooms at several hotels (St. Louis, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, United Nations) into Millennium Classic rooms, based on the highly successful model used in the companys Millennium Hotel, New York, Broadway in Times Square. Millennium Classic rooms have the feel of a contemporary, upscale residential apartment, with a friendly but sophisticated ambience. Neutral tones are punctuated with bright accents and liberal use of light-colored English Figured Sycamore wood in a large headboard covering almost an entire wall, as well as in the casework to lend a restful air. Telecommunications technology and lighting, especially in the uplit glass bathroom vanity, are installed to be highly functional without detracting from a cozy, warm atmosphere. Such touches as Knoll Soho ergonomic chairs, in-room fax machines, customed designed pillow-top beds and large desks with dataport and electric outlets further ensure comfort. Four of Millenniums U.S. hotels Millennium Biltmore Hotel, Los Angeles; Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel, Chicago; Millennium Bostonian Hotel, Boston and Millennium Hotel, Boulder are receiving customized renovations that feature more traditional furnishings and artwork in keeping with their history, style and character. These and the conversion to Millennium Classic accommodations elsewhere, along with substantial improvements and expansion of business and meeting facilities at most properties, will result in a uniformly higher standard of guest rooms, public areas and meeting space system-wide. Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR), established in the United States in 2000, is the North American arm of London-based Millennium and Copthorne Hotels plc (M&C). The MHR portfolio includes 20 holdings in the United States and the company operates properties including: Millennium Hotel, New York, Broadway; Millennium Hotel, New York, UN Plaza; Millennium Biltmore Hotel, Los Angeles; Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel, Chicago; Millennium Bostonian Hotel, Boston; Millennium Hotel, Minneapolis; Millennium Hotel, St. Louis; Millennium Hotel, Cincinnati; Millennium Hotel, Boulder; Millennium Hotel, Durham; Millennium Hotel, Anchorage; Millennium Resort, Scottsdale, McCormick Ranch; the Maxwell House Hotel, Nashville; Eldorado Hotel, Santa Fe; and the Royal Palm Resort, Galapagos Islands (opening Winter 2001).
